I appreciate the basic idea that to be successful sometimes it’s best to not let things bother you. In execution, I felt that this was a boring and repetitive self-help book, and didn’t finish it.

If you’re interested in Tesla, SpaceX, SolarCity, PayPal, or any other projects Musk has driven forward, this biography sheds invaluable light. In reading this, I felt the same connection to Musk that I would feel to the quirky protagonist of an award-winning film.

The concept of learning about a decade and the growth of a company through its leaders diary is clever, and the author’s performance as the reader is delightful. The actual plot moved slowly and I did not find myself connecting with the characters. I was not interested enough to finish the book. For those interested in Tina Brown’s autobiography in the context of Vanity Fair, it could be a different experience.
