Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Terrific Story "ala SeaBiscuit" for Crew!!
Revisado: 06-04-16
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! (I couldn't put it down!) The humility and pure grit of these depression-era college kids was nothing short of inspirational! Rowing is brutally hard - in the boat, mostly, not so much glory- this showed the shaping of 9 men into one crew - moving as one, subjugating one's impulses for the crew (i.e. looking to see how far ahead/behind one is) and learning to trust each other- to move as one. Also, the craftmanship of the boat maker added to the interest. ( Great narration, too!!) I love these living history sports books, wow!

Historia
Renowned neurologist David Perlmutter, MD, blows the lid off a topic that's been buried in medical literature for far too long: carbs are destroying your brain. And not just unhealthy carbs, but even healthy ones like whole grains can cause dementia, ADHD, anxiety, chronic headaches, depression, and much more.

Life Changing Book!
Revisado: 05-11-15
For a very long time, I have been in search of information that makes sense and makes me feel healthy. The Grain Brain is that book! After only a few weeks of low-carb, high-fat, and gluten-free, I feel great! I have no cravings. Also, I have told my siblings since after using Statins for awhile, they are now on antidepressants (all 3 of them!). Grain Brain explains this quite clearly! I am going to listen to the BrainMaker next. Thank-you, Dr Perlmutter!

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

This book brings me joy!!
Revisado: 01-09-15
As a person burdened with the possessions of a seven person household (and a pooch), I finally can see my way past the clutter and on to a "tidier" life. (By the way, I despise the word "de-clutter"... now it's "tidying up"!) The simplistic yet profound methods & thought processes introduced in this book have finally inspired me, not overwhelmed me. It was presented in a manner I could understand and relate to. I have started with my own clothes (first!!) and will continue with MY possesssions BEFORE I attempt to tidy-up my family. I feel freedom already. Thanks Marie Kondo!!

Very Funny Autobiography!
Revisado: 01-15-11
I rarely write reviews but I couldn't stay silent about this audiobook. I have seen Jeff Dunham DVDs before and my family loves his humor. I was interested in how he got his start and how he developed his characters and I had one audible credit left so I spent it on this selection. WOW! Jeff narrated it with his little friends, so it was very entertaining as well as informative. He started young and consistently practiced his craft wherever he could. Imagine...he became an "overnight" success after decades of consistent hard work, practice and putting himself out there. Great lesson for us all. His parents are my heros, too, and they are an example of how to encourage, support, and nurture an interest in a child (even if the interest may not lead to a career). Great listen!!
