Not what I expected
Revisado: 11-25-22
Based on the beginning of the book, which introduced me to Audrey and Lizzy, I expected the book to focus on them. I read quiet far in to the book. I was very disappointed when I saw them split off. Lizzy, and Pru were the big focus as well as well as a couple others. Audrey got a few mentions and then she w as killed off. I do not know what happened after that. I just could not get in to it. To me, the book was done. It did not hold my interest. It did hold my interest; I lost it after the beginning when Audrey and Lizzy were becoming best friends. Done after Audrey died.

Loved both books
Revisado: 11-11-22
I enjoyed this book very much. My only complaint would be, I I did not know there was a second one.
Both were too short; especially the the second book. Why not combine books.

I just could not get in to it
Revisado: 10-03-22
Some people probably love this book. The accents just don’t connect. The story is slow. It is not the subject matter. It is great. Something is just not interesting me.

What she doesn’t understand is why her mother never mentioned it.

It was slow. It did not keep my attention. The story was a bit boring. So, it was OK!
However, all reading/listening to books is beneficial.

Great fiction and history
Revisado: 02-25-20
I loved this book. So many were tortured and killed during WWII at the concentration camps. The fictional personal experience was so powerful. More young adults should be reading this.

The story was good, but...
Revisado: 01-24-20
I enjoyed this story. However, I am a post WWII baby and I spent most of my growing up years watching movies and reading fiction and non fiction about WWI and II. My emphasis being WWII.
It irritates me that books and movies today think they can’t write a movie or a book without all the swearing. Yes, they did swear back then and especially the military. However, in the post WWI and WWII years up to the 1960’s, they created great stories and movies without the vulgarity/swearing. It is not needed to show an emotion. The movies and the books back then, were still riveting, but this way all could enjoy. I wanted my middle school granddaughter to hear or read this story. I will not mention it to her now.

Historia
When Grace, April, and Poppy join the US Army Nurse Corps, they see it as little more than an adventure, one made all the better by their first station: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Joined at the hip, idealistic Grace, exuberant Poppy, and brave but haunted April frolic in the sun, attending parties, flirting with the handsome soldiers, and becoming fast friends with seasoned nurse Eva. Like the Hawaiian sun, their future seems warm and bright - until the infamous morning of December 7.

Enjoyed a lot; except some language
Revisado: 01-07-20
I enjoyed the book very much. I like fictional stories during WWI or WWII. Not necessarily in theater though. It could be at the home front. I did no like some of the vulgar language. I know people used that language during war. However, there have been many books and movies made in the 20’s-50’s they did not use vulgar language and the books and movies were still impactful. I do recommend this book though.
