Calluna doesn't believe in all this love garbage that she keeps seeing all over the town. Nope, she is just fine keeping to herself and her pet store, Beastie Besties, spank you very much. When a goofy romance book draws her in, and she is given a meerkat-shifter, a fennec-fox-shifter, a fallen angel, and a griffin-shifter -- well, Calluna's views on love might be in for a whirlwind of change.

Mystery with Lots of Steam
Revisado: 03-16-21
Jewels gave us another incredible plus sized heroine and an extremely steamy story! As an animal lover, I would have to say that they were the best part of the book with all of their quirks after being uncursed. This book was filled with darkness, mystery, and tons of pets.
Calluna is honestly the best- snarky, confident in her own skin, and a huge animal lover with her own pet store, Beastie Besties. Lars had to be my favorite character with his upbeat, humorous, and loving personality. Out of her guys I think I liked Landyn and his troubled past the best. Damien and Rhett were equal for me and they make each other whole while Elias gave up the most to be with her.
The steam was turned all the way up and the mystery of the cursed animals kept me intrigued along with the twists and turns. There is a trigger warning for animal cruelty, but it isn’t done by any of the main characters. I loved seeing Rose and everyone at Vee again and I can’t wait for more of Jewels’ characters in the future!
Christine did a great job with this narration. She brought Calluna’s snark to life and all of the steamy scenes. It was easy to tell who was narrating each chapter whether it was Calluna or one of her men. I liked that the male voices weren’t forced and that the Spanish wasn’t butchered because in all honesty I probably would’ve done it.

Funny, Steamy, and Sweet
Revisado: 12-13-20
I loved this addition to the Silver Springs universe! I really wish that I hadn’t waited so long to read it, but it was worth the wait. This book was filled with vampires, a spelled PSL, humor, and tons of steam!
Rose is a fun and very likeable character. I love that Jewels writes plus sized heroines who are realistic and don’t get treated different by their men because they aren’t “normal” sized. I definitely don’t have a favorite out of her guys because they were all strong, dominant, and loving. As a cat lover, Pumpkin was my favorite side character who honestly didn’t have too much of a part in this book.
Christian did a great job with this narration and I look forward to listening to more by this new narrator. Rose’s character was brought to life and I thought Christian was a perfect fit for her. I loved that the humor, tension, and steam were portrayed well and that the male voices didn’t seem too forced.
It was great finally reading Rose’s story even though I knew of many things that have already happened with her and the guys since there are slight spoilers throughout the other books in the universe. I can finally read the sequels in Jewels Cafe and I’m so excited to see what I missed between season one and two!

Snarky & Vengeful
Revisado: 11-06-19
This was a great Egyptian mythology story! Sekhmet has been trapped for a thousand years, but when her release comes, she has to choose between love and revenge. I loved her snarky and vengeful personality and besides being created that way, she has every right to feel those things after being cursed as a sphinx. I liked the romance that she had with Fet even though it wasn’t the main focus of the story.
Sterling did a pretty good job with the narration. For the most part, I think she portrayed Sekhmet’s emotions very well, but at times it did feel a little flat when she voiced other characters.

Mari, Shelbie, & the Quest for Lost Souls
Revisado: 10-31-19
This was an amazing retelling of The Little Mermaid! After Mari saves a man from a shipwreck on her eighteenth birthday, she loses her soul. Determined to get it back and every other soul that mermaids have had stolen from them, she finds the Sea Witch to gain further information and instructions. Mari, Shelbie, and Aaron (the man she rescued) go on a journey to find the lost souls. The land is unknown territory for Mari and she isn’t quite sure who to trust. I really loved Shelbie’s, Mari’s sidekick, personality and thought it was cool to have her shift into two creatures- a seal in the water and a dog on land. I also liked the notions of the original story within this one and the history that Mari’s dad and the Sea Witch had. This retelling was filled with twists and managed to have a unique spin on the classic tale.
Courtney did a great job with this narration! I loved the young personality and emotions that she portrayed for Mari- she was the perfect fit! Her performance was very easy to listen to and she spoke at a steady pace.

More than a Mermaid
Revisado: 10-13-19
This was a great start to the Elemental Origins series! Targa feels confused that she isn’t attracted to either gender and guilty that she can’t shift into a Mermaid like her mother. Her and her mom go to Poland to salvage a mysterious wreck, but Targa’s life turns upside down when she meets Antoni during a boating accident. Targa seemed like a very relatable and realistic teenager and her friends seemed awesome- I can’t wait to read each of their stories. Antoni was really sweet and the age difference between him and Targa didn’t bother me. Her relationship with her mother is strong, loyal, and devoted- her mom gave up everything to have and raise her. I loved learning about the nautical history and her journey of coming of age. AL managed to take mermaids and elemental powers and create something truly unique. I also liked that she talked about how what we do affects marine life.
Gabra did a good job with this narration! She used different voices for each character, had an easy voice to listen to, and kept me engaged throughout the whole story.

Post Apocalyptic Urban Fantasy
Revisado: 10-13-19
This was a great start to the Reign of Fae series! An apocalypse is happening because of the Fae and Chloe, a human, wants to change that. She teams up with Bram, a fae, to try to turn the tables and save the world. Chloe and Bram’s relationship gets forced instead of natural in my opinion. I absolutely loved the Harry Potter references that were thrown into the book and caught myself laughing on multiple occasions. CK did a wonderful job mixing our world and the world of fae together with the creatures, weapons, and the magic system within utter chaos. This book was filled with action and adventure and left me wanting to know what happens next!
Sydnee did a really good job with this narration! I felt like she voiced Chloe’s personality and emotions well and her character voices were distinguishable.

New World & Great Characters
Revisado: 10-12-19
Aranya is being sacrificed to to protect her father’s kingdom from the Sylakian invasion, but when she’s thrown off the cliff, she discovers that she can shift into a dragon and fly. No one has ever fought back with the Sylakian’s until her and she’ll do what needs to be done to protect her people and not give in to their oppressors demands. Aranya’s journey was intriguing and she struggled with her dragon self- it wasn’t an instant thing that she knew how to do or control. She has a temper that comes with consequences and her character does develop thought the story. Zuziana was probably my favorite character even though she seems spiteful at first, but as the story progresses there’s a different side to her. All of the secondary characters were solid and not just fillers. The love interest for Aranya just wasn’t working for me, but the friendships and bonds that she formed with other were great. Marc did an amazing job with this world building! Everything from their fashion to history was incredibly detailed and I loved the unique customs that were created and the relationship between a rider and their dragon.
Shiromi did a really great job with narration! I loved how flawlessly she could switch between accents and characters- I always knew who was speaking and never felt lost.

Slow Start, Lyrical Narration
Revisado: 10-12-19
This was a good start to the Elemental Trials series. Enari has been summoned to help with a royal birth and Jex is tasked with ensuring her and her healers’ safely to the palace. Jex, the MMC, is a battle mage, a womanizer, is arrogant, self-absorbed, and irresponsible, but his character does develop throughout the book. Enari, the FMC, is mute, an apprentice healer, observant, and guarded. I had many issues with her being mute, mainly because of the situations that she ended up in and her illogical reasoning for it, but other than that, I liked her character. This book was very slow to start and as much as I like to know the characters, world, and politics of the book I’m reading, it was just too slow for me to really grasp it with an audio version. I did like that the main focus wasn’t romance, but politics of their world.
Ginny did a really great job with this narration! She used different voices, portrayed every emotion, and had a lyrical voice that brought their world to life.

Familiars Band Together
Revisado: 10-05-19
This was a great conclusion to the London Coven series! After Stella messes with the dark arts, David begins to change into something evil that’s capable of destroying their city. London’s Uncanny want to stop him before it gets too far, but she’ll protect him at any cost. To add to the chaos, desicated corpses are piling up and a succubus seems to be the culprit. Can Stella save David, her city, and find the rouge succubus? Matthew has created these realistic, loveable characters with their humor, imperfections, and strength. I absolutely loved Eva’s sarcastic personality and the hilarity/ pain in the ass behavior of Jake and Jack- I feel that they really added to the story. Stella has definitely gained more of a human side throughout the series and it really pushes through in this book with her concern for David and the possibility of losing her only friend.
Heather did another great job with this narration! The different voices she used for each character are distinctive and I love how she kept me engaged throughout the entire story.

Great World Building & Character Development
Revisado: 10-05-19
This was a great start to a new urban fantasy series! Alexandra isn’t your normal private investigator and makes ends meet with some weird and messy jobs, especially the one from her newest client. Turning twenty one has complicated her life and also reveals her heritage and the world she actually lives in. I really liked Alex’s spunky and crafty personality and that she was bisexual. Yes, this book has quite a bit of sex in it, but it actually fits the story and doesn’t feel like page fillers. The world that Devin has created is intriguing and well developed. I loved the idea of there being three type of beings- made from light and dark (angels and demons), made from fire (Djinn/ supernaturals), and ones made of clay (humans); also there are half-bloods that are created by demons and humans. This book was filled with suspense, twists and turns, and a lot of action!
Jessica did another great job with this narration! She spoke at a steady pace, used distinguishable voices for every character, and really brought the main character to life. Her performance added to the action, steam, and suspense of the book!
