Not his best but still better than most
Revisado: 11-13-19
David is always entertaining, like a friend stopping by and telling stories and you don't want him to leave even when it gets late. Cheers.

Something to think about
Revisado: 11-13-19
I wouldn't say this was a life changer, but then again I did write the four agreements on a post-it on my desk and I keep looking at it months later. I will copy them to a new post-it soon. I think this affected me more than I am saying, it is a good way to look at your life, but the book felt a little long.

My BS meter was going off during this entire book. Seems highly unrealistic being that I know people are basically selfish.

Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

Not what I thought
Revisado: 12-28-18
I expected something about mindfulness, like making your bed keeps you focused on the present. This is really a collection of military stories told by the author. I don't really relate to military thinking and missed the impact of most of the stories.

With Auxier’s exquisite command of language, The Night Gardener is a mesmerizing read and a classic in the making.

Creepy without being too scary
Revisado: 12-28-18
This is a great scary story for preteens, the story has a good supernatural theme and a little backstory about Irish immigrants. Well done. I thought some of the voices, especially the male ones sounded weak but the other voices were great. Mild recommendation for true horror fans.

I really liked this book. I've seen both movie versions and neither live up to the book. What a great story and Ms. Le Guin has an amazing mind. I really liked this story.

Interesting fable
Revisado: 11-13-18
The first two thirds of the book is really good, it kept my attention, but as the answers began to reveal themselves the story slowed and lost some of it's magic. Overall an enjoyable listen.

I'm not sure why this won the Pulitizer
Revisado: 06-11-18
I get that it is a story that could only be told in the here and now. It is a milestone for how the life journey of the lgbtq community has changed, but it's kind of dull. The main character is not very interesting and his struggle is very ordinary. On the plus side, the use of language and metaphor is exceptional. I can't say I liked it but also can't say I disliked it, but was able to listen to it in one go through, so it is very easy to listen to.
