Historia
First published in 1843, it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and unpleasant man who dislikes people generally and Christmas especially. One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

The lyrical, rich text is best brought to life in this version!
Revisado: 12-19-24
This is one of my favorite stories and I have read/listened to many versions. I truly think that this version, performed by High Grant, is the best representation of Dickens' voice of any that I have heard. Grant nails the sarcasm and the dark humor that others plow through. This story, whilst touching and poignant, is written as a satire and as if someone is telling it to you orally. I think Dickens' himself would cherish this narration and think to himself "this man 'gets' it."
if you have never read the whole story of A Christmas Carol, I recommend, especially, this version. it is just lovely. I listen to it each Christmas....more than once.

Historia
Edinburgh, 1854, and a killer stalks the streets. Body parts have been found across the city—a foot in the Surgeon's Hall, another beneath a debtor's floorboards, more pieces in the soil of a freshly filled grave—and Will Raven, assistant to the great Dr Simpson, is being asked questions about the crime. His day job is demanding enough, striving to make his name as an obstetrician, and his home life with a second child on the way is exhausting. But Will usually finds the company of his colleague Sarah Fisher, a young widow and fellow-trainee, reviving.

Another Great Mystery Filled with History
Revisado: 10-30-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this 4th book in the series. I am thankful for the attention to detail that the writing team brings to the story and the guys of history they share at the end. I enjoy these two main characters so much and am wishing/hoping for another story in the future. Narration was wonderful, especially Bryan Dick who's voice is just lovely.
Thanks for all the effort put into creating this lovely production!

Revisado: 12-06-22
A great beginning to one of my favorite series of books. Grecian has a way of getting you betwixt into the story. I found I could not press pause on this Audible and had to keep it going throughout my day....just had to learn what happened next in the story. The series gets better and better with each book.

I loved this book!
Revisado: 02-25-21
Easily one of the most enjoyable stories and the most intriguing narration I've come across on Audible. The dual narrators add depth to the story, especially with their accents. I love Victorian noir stories especially those involving early medicine and murder mysteries. This novel never disappointed. You grow to care about the deep characters and their plights. A++

Wow! Great first novel! Really enjoyed it!
Revisado: 02-09-21
Although I thought it began a bit slowly (it didn't, I was just impatient) I just got sucked into the story. I read all Victorian noir/ Jack the Ripper fiction I can and this one kept me enthralled! Can not believe this is a first novel. Really enjoyed the story and the narrator was great! Wish I could find more books like this! What fun!

Historia
In the late 1800s, the city of Austin, Texas, was on the cusp of emerging from an isolated western outpost into a truly cosmopolitan metropolis. But beginning in December 1884, Austin was terrorized by someone equally as vicious and, in some ways, far more diabolical than London's infamous Jack the Ripper. For almost exactly one year, the Midnight Assassin crisscrossed the entire city, striking on moonlit nights, using axes, knives, and long steel rods to rip apart women from every race and class.

Revisado: 04-15-16
I found myself listening to this book every second I could. I loved the narrator's voice and pace. I worried that a book with such rich detail and facts would be boring. This was far from boring. Very much enjoyed it! Great book for Ripperologists, too.
