Historia
Up until this morning, the biggest thing Josh had to worry about was completing Shadow Souls on sadistic difficulty. Oh, and his upcoming exams. That was before he caught the attention of a planet of intergalactic trial-by-combat lawyers that use giant mechs to fight their legal battles. Now he has bigger things to worry about. Much, much bigger. The only advantage he has is his trusty games controller, but will it be enough to beat a Level 10 Behemoth?

I Love This Book!
Revisado: 03-05-21
This book doesn't continue the story of the first book but it only took a very short while before I fell in love with the characters here and the world creation. The narration is excellent, easy to understand, and absolutely hilarious and touching when called for. This series and the 2 books that are currently in it are among my favorite audiobooks I've ever heard out of the hundreds I've listened to on Audible; they resonate with me so well and the author did an amazing job. I love and highly recommend these audiobooks!

So Hilarious and Touching!
Revisado: 03-04-21
I resonated with these audiobooks so strongly even though I don't work a crap job like the main character but I definitely understood the feelings about work, relationships, friends, games, and everything else. I feel like this book was so well written and absolutely hilarious. This is one of my favorite audiobooks out of the hundreds I've listened to on Audible. Other than the narrator switching between "mob" and "mobe" (whatever that is), I LOVED the narration and HIGHLY recommend this audiobook for a good laugh and a fantastic story!

Historia
When Pete Etchells was 13, his father died from motor neurone disease. In order to cope, he immersed himself in a virtual world - first as an escape, but later to try to understand what had happened. Etchells is now a researcher into the psychological effects of video games, and was co-author on a recent paper explaining why WHO plans to classify "game addiction" as a danger to public health are based on bad science and (he thinks) are a bad idea. In this, his first book, he journeys through the history and development of video games via scientific study....

Practically meaningless title
Revisado: 01-12-21
With a title of "Lost in a Good Game", I was ignorantly assuming this book would be about oh.. I dunno... the feeling and joy of getting lost in a good game. Silly me! While there's a few quips like that near the beginning, soon the book spirals down the same old garbage chute of the question of violence in video games that most people who get this book have heard endlessly and don't care about at all and then it refuses to let go and becomes all this book is about. Ugh.
It's definitely not all bad which is why I give it 3 stars but the misleading title annoys me enough to dock it 2 stars.

Meditation Frustration!
Revisado: 05-09-19
It felt like over half this book was meditations. I wanted information, tips, practices, and Q&A, but so much of the time listening to this was spent on guided meditations.
While not a bad thing I'm sure for a lot of people, I personally have my own meditation practice and didn't need the sub par ones presented here.
There are a few golden nuggets in this audiobook and some great ideas and stories (like about Shauna's son and the ants).
I personally returned this audiobook because I was hoping for more information and less practicing.
There are some fantastic audiobooks that set all the meditations at the end of the book for the people who do want them, but having them littered throughout here made it unenjoyable to me personally.
Yes I understand this was a seminar / talk and that was their format, but my point is that other people got it right when presenting mindfulness as an audiobook and I wish this would have too.
If you have no problems with the meditations strewn throughout, then this audiobook is really fantastic and Kristen and Shauna are wonderful presenters of self compassion and you'll love their work!

Great Audiobook
Revisado: 02-15-18
Walk into this as a story about the people known as the minimalists, not about how to be a minimalist.
It was a great audiobook, although quite a bit overstuffed with colorful wording as though JFM was trying too hard to "be a writer".
I especially appreciated the way Ryan interjected throughout, it was a funny and interesting break in the sometimes monotonous tone of JFM.
I think this audiobook is well worth the cost and the stories. Sometimes sad, sometimes funny, but almost always interesting.
