Not B. J. Harrison’s best work but still good
Revisado: 07-01-20
B. J. Harrison usually does an outstanding job at giving the characters different voices; but not this time. Throughout most of the narration I couldn’t tell the difference between Greyson and Kora. It made it very hard to follow at times. If this has been the first book I’d listened to narrated by B. J. Harrison I probably wouldn’t listen to any more by him. However, as already stated, he usually does a much better job at bringing the story to life.
The story itself was as good as expected. I’ve become a lover of the Nocturn Falls/Jane Frost series’ and can’t wait for the next book.

Poor audio editing
Revisado: 12-20-19
I absolutely love this series and Marian Hussey’s performance is great. My problem lies with the editing of the audio. There are several places where the lines are duplicated in this book. It’s obvious that the recording was poorly spliced together during editing. It was annoying enough that had this been the first book in the series I wouldn’t have continued purchasing the other books. I hope that Audible can/will re-edit this audio and send out an update to users who have purchased this title.

Only OK
Revisado: 03-22-19
B. J. Harrison's performance was great as usual; but the story left a lot to be desired.
Half the book or more was spent leading up to when Curt and Missi met then once they met they were mated and pregnant in the span of a few hours. For me, this was a little too wham-bam-thank-you-mam. There could have been so much more to this story and there should have been. I think it would have been better if the couple met earlier on in the book before all the mishaps started so that they could deal with and sort through the mishaps while allowing their feelings and sexual tension to grow. Personally, I enjoy the build up and then climax when it actually happens. There was far too little romance in this story. I would only recommend this book if you are a fan of the Happily Everlasting Series and want to keep up with what is happening with each character. Otherwise, skip this for something better.

Mildly interesting story but...
Revisado: 07-24-18
I thought the story itself was pretty good and interesting enough. The problem I have with this series is that the characters are very immature and annoying. Both the main protagonist and her best friend are much to bossy, whiny, and sound more like petulant teenagers than late twenty-somethings. Also, most of the male characters in the book, including the boyfriend, had egos bigger than the Empire State Building and the most douchey lines. They sounded more like spoiled frat boys from a cheesy movie than real life men. All-in-all, I found my patience running very thin with all the characters
My feelings toward the characters were only intensified by the narrator. While I appreciate her attempt at different voices for each character, she seemed to speak as if every sentence ended with an exclamation point, making almost unbearable characters even worse. She also gave the male characters very nasally voices. I don't want to come down on the narrator too hard because this is a job I would not excel at; but, I probably won't download a book narrated by her again.

But when she finds Doris Gleason dead in her own cookbook store, killed by a carving knife, the atmosphere seems more cutthroat than cordial. Someone wanted to get their hands on the rare cookbook that Doris had recently purchased-and the locals think that someone is Tricia.

Kept me guessing who the killer was
Revisado: 03-07-18
Normally this isn’t my kind of read; I prefer Romance but I really enjoyed this book. Every time I developed my own theory as to who the killer was I was given new information that had me rethinking my hypothesis. This allowed me to enjoy the complete book without thinking “well, that was too easy to figure out”. My only complaint has to do with narration and production. I absolutely hate when there is intro and exit music played at the same time that the story is being read it adds a layer of distraction that is unneeded. Also, the music at the end of this book sounded so ominous even though the mystery was solved and everyone was safe - I didn’t think it really fit. The narration was mostly done really well; however, I feel like the whiney, spoiled voice of Angelica was not quite on point. Angelica was trying to be a better sister and make up for her and Trish’s childhood animosity. While she was sometimes still a bit selfish and unthinking I felt like her character could have been portrayed better with less of a whiney voice. She sounded like she was still a spoiled 5 year old.
