She said yes to Morelli. She said yes to Ranger. Now Stephanie Plum has two fiancés and no idea what to do about it. But the way things are going, she might not live long enough to marry anyone. While Stephanie stalls for time, she buries herself in her work as a bounty hunter, tracking down an unusually varied assortment of fugitives from justice. There’s Eugene Fleck, a seemingly sweet online influencer who might also be YouTube star Robin Hoodie, masked hero to the homeless, who hijacks delivery trucks and distributes their contents to the needy.

Disappointing!
Revisado: 12-06-24
After following this author for years, her books became so weird I stopped reading them. When I saw this one, since the title was different, I purchased it right away. However, I could hardly make myself read it with all the silliness of the characters. I had hoped the characters had grown up a bit. Even the ending was disappointing! So I’m through with this series. The only book I kept was the first one, which I have added to my Audible library and listen to it every few years.

Historia
Reluctant lawyer Andy Carpenter is at the Tara Foundation’s annual Christmas party. The dog rescue organization has always been his true calling, and this is one holiday tradition he can get behind because every dog that’s come through the rescue—and their families—are invited to celebrate. This year’s party is no exception. But before the stockings can be hung by the chimney with care, homicide detectives ruin the evening. Derek Moore, one of the foundation’s best foster volunteers, is arrested for murder.

Love Connelly but…….
Revisado: 10-14-21
I’ve read everything he’s written, but this one slipped by me. Glad it did bc after reading this one I would never have read another. This is one of the worst books I’ve ever read. It moves slowly and is a tedious listen. Unless you enjoy blood and guts and dirty cops, skip this one. You can always go back to it later. His other books offer so much more for your time and money!

Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

This WWII story about the easy Nazi takeover of Paris foreshadows what is happening in America today. DC already looks like a city in a third-world country.

Unfreedom of the Press is not just another book about the press. [Levin] shows how those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within - not through actions of government officials, but with its own abandonment of reportorial integrity and objective journalism. With the depth of historical background for which his books are renowned, Levin takes you on a journey through the early American patriot press, which proudly promoted the principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

Now my trust is shaken to the core. I might as well read the Inquirer. The press is all lies and retaliation thanks to the Left-Wing. Journalists have sold out to the politicians.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Best Political Book of the New Century!
Revisado: 09-17-20
Owens’ book should be mandatory reading for everyone! I’m a white female and retired college English instructor. For 20 years I heard poor-performing Black students tell me they didn’t want to speak “standard” English for fear they would be bullied by the Black community for “trying to be white.” Such a waste of creative and intelligent minds brought on by a nation of educators who had to please the Democrats to insure their jobs. Shame on Bloomberg for donating millions to support the election of the Leftist. What a difference that money would have made to the schools in NYC. Oh, excuse me, the Democrats don’t want to educate the Black children. Owens is correct: it took a white, loudmouth, brash NYC businessman to give voice to the Blacks! Thx, Candace! Now the ball is in the hands of the voters. I always told my students to vote for the candidate of their choice. If I were still in the college classroom, I tell them to vote straight-ticket Republican—to hell with the powers-that-be in DC! I no longer work for them or believe in them!

Too much wasted time!
Revisado: 06-13-20
Will never purchase another Patterson book because of the disruption of music, sound effects, and short chapters! Every scene sequence should not be a chapter break. Very disappointed in this book. It could have been a six-hour book without the added music and periods of silence between the 100+ 20-sentence chapters. Total waste of time only to have a disappointing ending.

Welcome back, Mr. Grisham!
Revisado: 10-21-19
I’ve read all of Grisham’s books and really enjoyed the earlier ones. But lately, his books seemed shallow. This book is now one of my favorites along with THE TESTAMENT and THE BROKER. Grisham is back on track with great characters and issues relevant to all times and all places. Michael Beck is a great narrator. I could not stop listening!
