Historia
When we think about the future of war, the military and Washington and most everyone gets it backwards. We think in terms of buying single military systems, such as fighter jets or aircraft carriers. And when we think about modernizing those systems, we think about buying better versions of the same things. But what really matters is not the single system but "the battle network"—the collection of sensors and shooters that enables a military to find an enemy system, target it, and attack it.

No incredible or unique insights for the regular consumer of Business and Defense news. Valuable reminders of political and DOD disfunction.

Historia
Disorder: Hard Times in the 21st Century is a long history of this present political moment. It recounts three histories—one about geopolitics, one about the world economy, and one about western democracies—and explains how in the years of political disorder prior to the pandemic, the disruption in each became one big story. It shows how much of this turbulence originated in problems generated by fossil-fuel energies, and it explains why, as the green transition takes place, the longstanding predicaments energy invariably shapes will remain in place.

Historia
We live in an extraordinary time. Technological advances are happening at a rate faster than our ability to understand them, and in a world that moves faster than we can imagine, we cannot afford to stand still. These advances bring efficiency and abundance - and they are profoundly deflationary. Our economic systems were built for a pre-technology era when labor and capital were inextricably linked - an era that counted on growth and inflation and an era where we made money from inefficiency.

Full of common examples, stories and anecdotes functioning more as fillers and less as well placed analogies. Very few original concepts. Lacks depth. A stream of consciousness without a strong connecting theme. In a word, boring. The author come from a place of elitism as if his net worth makes him insightful or wise. A waste of time.

A true "must read"

Everything from adventure to inspiration, this book will not disappoint. Abe Lincoln would give it five stars.
