Would you listen to The One & Only again? Why?
Yes. I love Emily Giffin, and Sofia Willingham became Shea.
What other book might you compare The One & Only to and why?
I'd compare it to Emily Giffin's other books, and while it's different in the sense that football is a really strong theme, it reminds me a bit of "Something Borrowed" in the sense that there's a lot of romantic tensions throughout the book.
Have you listened to any of Sofia Willingham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first time listening to one of her performances. I would listen to her again.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I didn't have an extreme reaction to the book, but I will say that I did enjoy the story. And although some found the primary relationship a bit creepy, I suppose it depends on your perspective.
Any additional comments?
What I will say is that, at one point, Shea's editor is chewing out one of her coworkers for writing an article using "He said and she said" a lot, but I found that Emily did that herself. At times it got a bit irking - which I suppose is a downside of listening to the book instead of reading it. I suppose if I was reading the book, the he said/she said repetition would have been more necessary, but the fact that Sofia Willingham's voice changed with each character, it wasn't necessary while listening.
Other than that, I enjoyed the book.
