I want more!
Revisado: 01-18-22
This novella, along with all the Night Huntress World books, are the equivalent of what Red Dragon is to vampires. Insatiable! I loved this one and I didn't want it to end. Cat and Denise as a team was such a pleasure to listen to! The storyline was interesting and I've always loved Denise and her powers. This book made me realize how badly I want to see more books with her as the central character, where she continues to learn how to fight and kick ass. I really hope Jeanine Frost hasn't quit writing about this universe. There's so much storyline potential, between the characters dealing with the legalization of magic aftermath and also potential character development for Denise and Katie.
As always, Tavis Gilbert gave a fantastic performance. She's one of my favorite narrators and she never disappoints.

Very good! Absolutely worth the credit
Revisado: 03-21-20
I really enjoyed this second book. While not as perfect as the first Night Rebel book, it was still so good! I am so in love with the character, Ian, and can't get enough of the delicious man. Dare I say it, but I adore him as much, if not more, than Bones, which is quite a feat. The only weak link belongs to Veritas, who I used to really like in the Night Huntress novels, but so far, she is quite boring in these new books, especially when paired with the legendary Ian Flannery. That isn't to say I dislike her, I just feel like her personality is a bit one-note, similar to Mencheres' main squeeze, Kira. Take Cat, for instance. She is an amazing heroine, because of her imperfections. However, I'm sure we will see some better character development in the third book, considering what happened at the end of this novel.
Having said all that, I really enjoyed this audiobook. I really liked the introduction of a new particular character who I will not name for the sake of spoilers, and can't wait to see more of him and his snarkiness. And the end of the book left me wanting more, thanks to the introduction to yet another new character.
I absolutely recommend this book. I am beyond happy to see Ian with his own spin-off. And as always, the audio performance was outstanding. Tavia Gilbert remains one of my all-time favorite narrators and once again, she delivers with pure perfection.

Diana Gabaldon + Davina Porter = Perfection!
Revisado: 06-10-18
I absolutely loved Written in My Own Heart's Blood, from start to finish. I'll admit, I was slightly worried after the last book (Echo in the Bone), which was a bit lackluster compared to the rest of the series. This book, however, makes up for everything that ECHO lacked and I loved it from start to finish. I especially found Roger and Brianna's storyline fascinating. I love the time travel/fantasy aspect of this books and their chapters did not disappoint. I loved the ending so much! It left me soaring and I can bet money that it will have the same effect on you! The narration was, as always, fantastic! Davina Porter is insanely talented! Her ability to capture each character with their many nuances and accents, along with the gift of correct pronunciation is truly a gift. There are so many foreign words in these books, between Gaelic, French, German, Native American tribe's languages, etc. It seems like it would be a daunting task, but she makes it seem easy. Like I said, she has a gift.
I highly recommend this audiobook! I can't wait until GO TELL THE BEES THAT I AM GONE (book 9) is released!

Male Narrator Was Cringe-inducing
Revisado: 06-08-18
The ONLY reason I gave this audiobook 2 stars is because of the terrible male narrator. The story was AMAZING, which is no surprise, since KMM rarely disappoints. I also thought Amanda Leigh Cobb's performance was very good, Even though her Irish accent occasionally morphed into an English accent, I thought she nailed Dani's character. It is Jim Frangione's terrible, hammed up narration that made this audiobook impossible to enjoy & I feel like I should warn my fellow Audible members before they spend their credit on this. Trust me when I say, the male narration is that bad. Jim Frangione completely butchered every character in the book, save for Shazam, which I actually thought was spot on. He gave all the bad guys that cliché New York gangster henchmen accent you hear in old cartoons, which was absolutely cringe inducing, not to mention, it didn't fit within the context of the story, considering they are in DUBLIN, IRELAND! He also gave Lor that hammed up New York accent, but the worst offense of all was the voice he gave Ryoden. He made my favorite sexy, testosterone packed, manly man sound like a kind old man. Sacrilege! I tried to ignore it, I really did, but I could not stop cringing every time the male narrator opened his mouth & it completely took me out of the story. I finally gave up listening & bought the eBook instead. A wasted credit. Such a bummer.. :'( I just can't understand, that out of ALL the male narrators out there, Brilliance Audio had to hire the worst possible choice. I understand that anyone they choose will have big shoes to fill, because I doubt anyone could ever top Phil Gigante's amazing performances. I understand why he had to be replaced & am ok with that. I'm sure Jim Frangione is a lovely person in real life, but he should have done his homework. How hard could it be to listen to some of the previous Fever audiobooks & emulate to the best of his ability? I'm not asking for an exact replica; it doesn't have to be perfect or even close to perfect, but at the very least, he could have at least tried to keep the voices & accents fluid with the previous audiobooks in the series. /Rant over As far as the story goes, I thought it was fantastic! I'm thrilled to have another Dani O'Malley centric book, because I have always loved her character. I was hooked, from start to finish & loved every minute. And like I said before, I thought Amanda Leigh Cobb did a great job as the female narrator. I feel like she is a worthy replacement for Natalie Ross, maybe even better. Audible really should allow members to rate each rate each narrator separately when the book has multiple narrators. I don't think it's fair to group Amanda's good performance with Jim's terrible one. Having said all that, I would recommend saving your credit & buy the book/eBook instead. You won't regret it!

4 Stars
Revisado: 03-30-15
Happy to have another Halfmoon Hollow book! It's kind of like returning to a group of old friends you missed. This book was my least favorite of the 3, but I still enjoyed it very much. It started out slow....so slow that I almost stopped listening. I'm so glad I stuck with it though, because the story picked up just in time & then I couldn't stop listening/reading. I wasn't that invested in Gigi & Nick, but the storyline was still great. Amanda Ronconi as a narrator was awesome, as always. Love her! So, if you find that you are bored with this book in the beginning, stick with it. You'll be glad that you did. A solid 4 stars for story & 5 stars for performance.

Awesome end to the Trylle Trilogy! A+++
Revisado: 01-26-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! I have already done so and they loved it too!
What other book might you compare Ascend to and why?
It is very difficult to compare this book/trilogy to another, because it's such an interesting spin on troll mythology. The 'coming of age' theme in this book/trilogy has definitely been done many times before, but it is still fresh for the paranormal fantasy genre. If I must compare it to another book/series, I would maybe compare it to the Iron Fey series. Both protagonists are coming of age and discover they are both mythological creatures AND royalty. Both characters are learning how to grow and mature into their birthright. Still, this book is very different from any other paranormal fantasy I have read and its uniqueness makes it stand out above the others.
What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She brings each character to life. I love her portrayal of Wendy and thought it was spot on. She also manages to pull off male voices quite well without sounding contrived. I absolutely adore her narration!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Hmmmmm, I don't know. How about "Trolls who don't look like trolls." Ok, I know that was pretty terrible. lol. I probably shouldn't quit my day job. Ha!
Any additional comments?
This was such a great final book! My favorite of them all, actually. The characters really make this book/trilogy shine. I adore almost every single character and I thought that Amanda Hocking did a stellar job tying the story up. I was especially happy about Wendy and Finn's ending, since I can't stand his character. She and Loki are so awesome together and I was glad they got their "Happily Ever After." I was so moved by Wendy and her mother, Elora's, growing relationship. It was both beautiful and tragic. I really enjoyed every second of this trilogy and read/listened to them so quickly. Recently, I decided I would read/listen to them again and I loved it even more the second time around. I don't normally care for YA novels, but this is one exception and I'm glad I gave them a chance. I would give it 10 stars if I could. A+++!

The last book was an A+...this book is an A++!
Revisado: 01-26-15
What did you love best about Torn?
Everything! I especially loved watching Wendy's character grow and mature, along with her relationship with her mother and Queen of the Trylle, Elora.
What other book might you compare Torn to and why?
It is difficult to compare this to other books, because it is the only book I have come across that features trolls. Not only that, but it offers a new and fresh take on this mythological creature...very different than those hideous trolls of lore that hide under bridges. If I absolutely must compare it to something though, I'd say maybe the Iron Fey series, only because the protagonist in that series is on a similar journey as Wendy. They both discover they are a mythological creature AND royalty. Both are coming of age stories where the protagonists are learning how to grow and mature into the leadership role that is their birthright.
Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?
That's easy! Loki! What's not to love? My second favorite character would definitely be Tove. I love both their relationships with Wendy. You can really feel the chemistry between Loki and Wendy. I love Wendy's friendship with Tove and enjoy all their scenes together.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Witnessing Loki's vulnerability when he does such a selfless act to help Wendy. I won't go into detail about that scene, since it would spoil the story for those that haven't read the book yet. I also loved the moment when Wendy put Aurora in her place. So satisfying!
Any additional comments?
I absolutely loved the first book and I thought this book was even better! I really enjoyed watching Wendy's character slowly mature into the aging Queen she will be. I can't find any flaws about this book and I thought Therese Plummer's performance was amazing and spot on! An A++!

An Awesome Surprise!
Revisado: 01-26-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! Actually, I already have recommended it to several friends and they loved it just as much as I. And my sister-in-law recommended it to me and I'm glad she did!
What did you like best about this story?
It felt very fresh for a paranormal fantasy. So many books in this genre are saturated with vampires, werewolves & other were-creatures, faeries, ghosts, zombies, shapeshifters, etc. This is the first book I have come across that features trolls and offers a new an interesting spin on these mythological creatures. I honestly wasn't sure if I would even like the book, since these days, I'm not really into the whole YA thing, but it had me hooked by the first few chapters.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many to name, but I especially enjoyed all the scenes with Wendy and her mother and Queen of the Trylle, Elora. You can tell her mother is a complicated woman, as Finn says.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Wendy's budding friendship with Tove.
Any additional comments?
I absolutely loved this book! The whole Trylle society is really intriguing and I loved all the characters...well, except for Finn. Not a fan of Finn. Therese Plummer did an amazing job narrating and I honestly haven't been able to find any flaws with the story and its narration. A solid 5 stars!
-P.S.- The second and third books are even better! Love this trilogy!
