Historia
The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

Unique presentation

I was surprised at the format - the conversation between the young man and the philosopher as a way to understand Adlerian psychology in comprehensible terms is a unique narrative approach. I really enjoyed this.

In challenging times, why do so many of us turn to Pema Chödrön for guidance? Many say that it’s her honest and caring way of communicating the core teachings of Buddhism - not just conceptually, but directly from her heart to ours. In these inspiring sessions, she teaches us how to give that compassion to the person we neglect most often - ourselves.

it's almost like attending a retreat. I was also reminded to reread some of my favorites, like cutting through spiritual materialism by Trungpa Rinpoche

Historia
Here Pema provides the tools to deal with the problems and difficulties that life throws our way. This wisdom is always available to us, she teaches, but we usually block it with habitual patterns rooted in fear. Beyond that fear lies a state of openheartedness and tenderness. This audiobook teaches us how to awaken our basic goodness and connect with others, to accept ourselves and others complete with faults and imperfections, and to stay in the present moment by seeing through the strategies of ego that cause us to resist life as it is.

So many great ideas
Revisado: 03-14-21
I started listening in the car going to and from a weekly chiropractor appointment but ended up listening while I was doing dishes. Then I was finding opportunities to listen whenever I could! I found myself nodding a lot. I just love reading Pema, this was my first time listening via audiobook. I wasn't disappointed.
