Historia
Thrown off course by a howling storm, the TARDIS lands in a bleak, desolate stretch of countryside. The Doctor deduces that it has arrived in Hampshire in the 1920s and, sniffing the air, he smells a distinct odour of sulphur - indicating that a spaceship has crashed in the area. While Rory goes to fetch an umbrella, Amy and the Doctor brave the rain to find the stricken craft. It is huge, shiny, silvery-blue - and completely empty. A set of footprints leads to a cosy-looking, old-fashioned cottage: but the house, too, is deserted.

A bit simple--but fun
Revisado: 02-13-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I saw the plot twist coming from the beginning--but the Doctor and Amy were well done.
Would you ever listen to anything by Simon Guerrier again?
Yes--he understand the characters but could use a more complicated plot--though this is a very short book. Really just an hour episode.
What does Raquel Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She does a great job with all the characters.
Was Doctor Who: The Empty House worth the listening time?
Yes--not my favorite but good.

Historia
Raquel Cassidy reads this exclusive audio adventure featuring the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory as they encounter one of the wonders of the universe ‘Don’t be alarmed!’ the Doctor cried through gritted teeth, ‘It’s simply sucking the life out of me. Nothing to worry about...’When the Doctor falls through a crack in time he finds himself in the Horizon Gallery. But it’s no ordinary art gallery, because this one has the best view of the most impossible wonder of the universe - the Paradox. Tour parties are eager to see this stunning, hypnotic portion of sky that’s beyond description, and it’s Penelope’s job to stop people staring up at it for too long. For the Paradox’s beauty drives people mad. The Doctor, Amy and Rory are about to discover that the Paradox also contains a giant and frightening creature with a taste for death…Written specially for audio by James Goss, The Art of Death features the Doctor, Amy and Rory as played by Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill in the acclaimed hit series from BBC Television. It is read by Raquel Cassidy, who played Miranda Cleaves in the 2011 TV episodes ‘The Rebel Flesh’ and ‘The Almost People’.

A Doctor Who book with not much doctor--but good!
Revisado: 02-13-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
A haunting well written story with a great narrator. The Doctor, Amy and Rory make brief appearances but very much in character. Like Blink--a story about the doctor even though he is not in it most of the time.
Which character – as performed by Racquel Cassidy – was your favorite?
She does a great job with all of them.

Historia
Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective in literary history. For the first time since the death of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a new Holmes story has been sanctioned by his estate, whetting the appetites of fans everywhere. Information about the book will be revealed as deliberately as Holmes himself would unravel a knotty case, but bestselling novelist and Holmes expert Anthony Horowitz is sure to bring a compelling, atmospheric story to life.

I love Derek Jacobi but he does a terrible Holmes!
Revisado: 02-13-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I think the book is probably fine--though it is a pretty stiff, very traditional take on Watson and on writing a "new" Holmes story. There are many better.
Would you ever listen to anything by Anthony Horowitz again?
No.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Derek Jacobi?
Anyone! His Watson sounded like an old bore and his Holmes had this odd high annoying weak sounding voice.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
If you love Sherlock Holmes, I think you would like the book--but I would suggest reading it. This is just a terrible narration.

Okay story, mixed opinion on the narrator
Revisado: 01-04-15
Would you try another book from Tommy Donbavand and/or Frances Barber?
The story has its good points--Donbavand has a good feeling for the Matt Smith doctor--but the clowns who cure people are really a bit silly. Also, Clara keeps sounding like Amy Pond--maybe the book was started with one companion in mind, then when there was a new one, only the name was changed? The narrator does a really good job with Matt Smith--and I have found that most of the novels with his doctor do not--but the Texas/Southern accents are torture to listen to! Lord! Just painful. And since the novel is set in Dallas, Texas on the day JFK is shot, this is not a small problem.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Frances Barber?
I would if she did not have to do American accents!
