Historia
Ro Krishna is the American son of Indian parents, educated at the finest institutions, equally at home in London’s poshest clubs and on the squash court, but unmoored after he is dramatically forced to leave a high-profile job under mysterious circumstances. He decides it’s time to check in for some much-needed R&R at Samsara, a world-class spa for the global cosmopolitan elite nestled in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas. A person could be spiritually reborn in a place like this. Even a very rich person.

The story was good up until the last ten minutes. The narration was enjoyable and was why I enjoyed the story as much as I did.

Historia
Against the backdrop of worldwide, unexplainable natural disasters, Dr. Virginia Marilyn Edwards (Emmy Award-winner Kerry Washington) seeks out Agent Scott Thomas (Emmy Award-winner Laurence Fishburne) at a secretive government headquarters. Virginia claims these events are signs, and unless Agent Thomas helps her, she believes things will only get worse. Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

A hidden gem ....
Revisado: 07-25-24
Poking around Audible and exploring and I came across this audio. Listened to the trailer and was immediately hooked!! Hit the play button, sit back, and just be taken away. The voice acting was incredible. Not once did I think I was listening to an 'actor/actress' saying lines .... can't wait to get into the story more!!!

Historia
Liz Rocher is coming home . . . reluctantly. As a Black woman, Liz doesn’t exactly have fond memories of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a predominantly white town. But her best friend is getting married, so she braces herself for a weekend of awkward, passive-aggressive reunions. Liz has grown, though; she can handle whatever awaits her. But on the night of the wedding, somewhere between dancing and dessert, the newlyweds’ daughter, Caroline, disappears—and the only thing left behind is a piece of white fabric covered in blood.

Enjoyable listen. The narrators made you feel deep into the story. A range of emotions were felt while listening. Added reading while listening to the audio was an excellent experience.

Fun and funny listen ....
Revisado: 08-03-22
.... it took me a while to finish. Because I love listening to it in the car. It took a minute to connect with the characters, but once I did, the audio turned into a fun listening. The voices of the individual characters were easy to recognize. The ending, where we find the set up, was surprising, but satisfying. I've read books by the author, but never a listen on audio. I would be open to exploring more by this author.

A satisfying mash up of different genres plays ...
Revisado: 04-08-22
.... out very well. Why does Madison May continue to die over and over? Max Barry takes the reader on a fascinating journey; it's a thriller, a mystery, a psychological story. It's a fun smart mixed up story that explores obsessive behavior and the effects of stalking experienced from both the victim and the stalker. There are no good/bad people. I think you will find yourself being able to relate, on some level, with the characters. They're smartly written and while the overall situation may be unrealistic, Max writes it in a way that allows you and sit back and enjoy the ride. I enjoyed the world building and wished we could have spent a little more on the organization that's trying to resolve the problems. I was able to experience both the audio and the book, with the audio being my preferred. Word of caution, don't read this story if you cannot give it the attention and the respect deserved.

Not one of my favorite by the authors. SPOILERS
Revisado: 11-27-21
Didn't like the person who did the narration. Cold. Devoid of feeling. The story was predictable, the unreliable narrative, and psycho person. Felt nothing for any of the characters, so it was hard for me to root for their survival. This story has been told better. Really disappointed, because I've enjoyed other books by them. Future purchases will not be an automatic buy.

Starts off slow and slowly builds up. Took a moment to vibe with the narration, but once I did, it was easy to submerge yourself in the story. And that ending?!?! Yes!!
