Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

A little dark at times but still a four plus rating. Sometimes grisly. The narrator was not unpleasant to listen to.

Great narrator
Revisado: 03-18-25
The start was eh as the narrator began in a rather unappealing cadence. But it improved and the storyline was catchy.

First LC book I couldn’t finish
Revisado: 02-27-25
Couldn’t tolerate this narrator. Too much effect. The story is one I would’ve turned off and just read if not for the sexy parts. It’s just not something I enjoy in my detective mysteries. I love LC’s Kate series and I was hoping for more of the same. I am disappointed.

The flow and cadence didn’t disappoint
Revisado: 04-29-24
The narration was not annoying. That is more important that we’d like to admit. Of course, The story grabbed ahold and didn’t let go. The characters were complete but I jaded one question; where was the dog walker? Are we to assume?

Her name is Renee Blackbear, but what most people call the 19-year-old Ojibwe woman is Cash. She lived all her life in Fargo, sister city to Minnesota’s Moorhead, just downriver from the Cities. She has one friend, the Sheriff Wheaton. He pulled her from her mother’s wrecked car when she was three. Since then, Cash navigated through foster homes and at 13 was working farms, driving trucks.
