Pompous and Frivolous
Revisado: 04-01-20
This was a very disappointing book. The author was trying to portray herself as an insider of the royal family at the expense of her own children/family. Being vacant, she was a terrible mother when her children were growing up. When her children were young, I got the feeling that she never liked getting her hands dirty. She was also married to a self entitled, emotionally stunted man, who behaved like a petulant child. The only time in this book that I felt anything for her was when both of her older sons passed away. When her one son died of AIDS, it was her first time I saw any form of redemption. The other form of redemption came when she was dealing with her third son's coma and the coma kits. Most of the rest of the book was filled with name dropping and very frivolous actions. Since she was the lady in waiting to Princess Margaret, I was expecting better of her. But like with her husband and her children was and incredible enabler and pleaser.

Extremely Disappointing
Revisado: 03-16-20
This book is more about the life of author and her elitist fancy friends. There was an extreme amount of name dropping and her enshrinement of those people. It really had very little to do with Andy Warhol

Historia
Deborah Mitford, Duchess of Devonshire, is the youngest of the famously witty brood that includes the writers Jessica and Nancy, who wrote when Deborah was born, "How disgusting of the poor darling to go and be a girl." Deborah's effervescent memoir chronicles her remarkable life, from an eccentric but happy childhood in the Oxfordshire countryside, to tea with Adolf Hitler and her controversially political sister Unity in 1937, to her marriage to the second son of the Duke of Devonshire.
