Swanson and Kelly really need Pendergast!

Narration is everything

I have absorbed every Pendergast novel and loved every one, except this one. This is based solely on the narration. To say I was terribly disappointed is an understatement.
I hung in through the audible book but when our intrepid Agent Pendergast came on scene I almost quit listening. Pendergast does not have a (so-called) British accent but a soft, pleasant drawl of the American south.
As said before - while the storyline was good the narration almost killed it.

I rarely post reviews on books I listen to figuring to each his own but this book now rises to my #1 read. I was enthralled with the storyline and the narrator pulled me into the story (which is rare). Also the fact that the novel is based on fact was another plus.
I have listened to over 150 audible books this year with over 850 total over the past three years (I don’t have the luxury of reading anymore) this book stands at the top of my favorites list.

One of my favorite books and series. I have read the books several time always envious of the rural life of a veterinarian in England. I laughed out loud, cried and was acutely disappointed when the end of the story came. The narrator, Christopher Timothy, was also a familiar voice as I had watched (and enjoyed) the television series.
The only negatives were the price to download the audible version and I could have done very well without the music accompaniment (which I am sure added to the price of the download).
I have turned to Audible as a way to satisfy my addiction to books while coming to grips with worsening eyesight. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the rest of the series (or any of my old favorites) in Audible being on a fixed income; a great disappointment.
