I really liked all the Sci fi concepts packed in. didn't care for the politics of "take the jab - do your part" nonsense.

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a really great job giving the perspective has the facts unfolded and her feelings at the time. People don't know the ending. And jumping to a guilty verdict is different when you know (or think you do) the person.

Narration amazing. Lacks backstory.

I really like how Audible offers these short stories free for a time. regardless of the story or topic, the narrations are always top-notch (at least everyone I've learned to).
The story is a little odd - spoilers (at least the for the first hour)


The Mc's backstory does not match the thinking imo of the adult. He's raised dying to leave home, blues dad and step dsd, brilliant - finishing college in 2 and medical in 3 years. Making best friends with a rich Italian. Yet he comments, " ... Americans who think there is such a thing as American Culture.".
I tried to keep listening, but then the mc goes on to justify kneeling for the anthem, with a small side story. There is no backstory or drive for this in the mc's backstory. this is a pure rant from the author and breaks the story.
if you want this in, there needs to be something, anything in the backstory. simple saying he's black does not cut it.
Maybe talk about how he was involved in the debate club, and in some political group at college. it doesn't need to be long, but something, please.

I do want to say it again, the narrations is great. I really want to keep going, but the side bar on politics without the backstory to support takes me out of the story way too much. Sad.

great story, characters, and narrator

Story - I really didn't care for the movie also at all, but Sandra Bullock. This fits much better has a book where you can just close you eyes and feel the terrier!
"Am I a good mother?" - the narration was amazing. it's one of those where you start to question if you think the story is good on its own or is the narration just that good - amazing.

P.S. I won't take a chance of the sequel b/c the reviews. This book is a great standalone. I may change my mind after I've gone through everything else audible has to offer.

could not get pasted the virtue signals.

I really enjoyed the iron druid chronicles but the last few books were a little odd - started to have a tone shift. I brushed it off since I was already 6 books invested. This new series just keeps those virtue signals going. I could not get passed chapter 3. stopped several times to re-listen to be sure I heard it right. and then just couldn't stomach it anymore.
I love the voice actor - will be trying to find stuff by him. the author I am done with.

fantastic performances and background sounds. The voice acting and sound effects made me forget this was an audio book a few times. Amazing quality. I highly recommend this version.

Read the first 3 first!

this book goes into details in the first 3 books. if you don't remember the first 3, I'd recommend reading them again or a deep summary before starting this last book.
Also, this book is like the cherry on top of the first 3. if you didn't love the first 3 (like I did ❤) don't bother. this book is very confusing without a good memory of the first 3.
I started this book and had to go back and re-read the first 3 again. I love this series and highly recommend putting in the time. This book explains so much "gabs" left to the readers imagination. Highly recommend this book and the whole series to everyone I know.

Good/interesting world

I'm very interested in the world. The touch of real with its affects on the virtual are interesting. The reader is great, but messes up with a few "gamer lines".
