Looking for a quick pick me up love story. Look no further.

High school sweethearts 15 years later reconnect over a sweater via phone calls. Loved the character development in the short amount of time.

The voice acting was amazing too.

3.5⭐️ - I wanted to like it more.

First off I appreciate fantasy romance novels and while this has romance, I wouldn’t necessarily put it into that category. It’s a very slow burn with lots of action.

The good:
I like the characters and their development. Especially Oraya’s relationship with her father figure, Vincent. The action scenes were intense and kept you intrigued. The world building was interesting, but not obtrusive.

The bad:
Slow. The middle was so slow. It was hard at some points to keep going. Also, the slow burn between Raihn and Oraya is too slow, then too hot for them to have such big feelings at the end. Finally, the ending was a bit predictable.

I don’t think I will read the sequel at this point. I really wanted to love this book, but it was a fun read just not something I necessarily want to continue.

4.5⭐️ - Highly anticipating the second book coming out November 2023.

Violet Sorrengail was supposed to be a scribe not a rider, but her mother, General Sorrengail forces her to join the rider’s quadrant. Basically boot camp college for dragon riders with a very low survival rate. There she is told to stay far away from Xaden Riorson, the son of a traitor who lead a rebellion against Violet’s mom. However, Violet and Xaden are drawn to one another.

What to expect:
Some adult romance (2 scenes near the end of the book)
Enemies to lovers
Lots of action scenes (reminiscent of Divergent)
Betrayal
Overcoming disabilities

If you enjoy Divergent or Thorn of Glass Series, then you’ll also enjoy this book.

Cute story

The story is cute, but it doesn’t compare to Sarah J Mass books. It more in line with The Cruel Prince series. If you enjoyed that book then you would enjoy this one as well.

Didn’t finish the book.

I wanted to fall in love with Cami and Sterling, but the characters were frustrating. Cami is described as level headed and confident, but comes off as a love sick teenager. There was no good reason why the characters should be struggling so the arch felt awkward and unrealistic. I just couldn’t devote anymore time into the book.

A very cute love story starting a quirky fun protagonist. Love her viewpoint as someone who is disabled and how people interact with her. She has flaws and acts poorly, but in the end grows from her mistakes and this makes the story more relatable.

Full of sex scenes and low on story

I am all for sex scenes and JA Huss can write them, but the story was just that. Sure there was a small story line, but it was spotty. Not one of her strongest books.

The 3 book story was good, but the ending was rushed. Several questions were left unanswered. However, the entire story was interesting with some good sex scenes sprinkled in.
