Huge fan of Kate Quinn and Elizabeth Wiley. Love this series! But there is a problem with the recording.

I was wondering why the end of chapters seemed so abrupt, then I compared to to the book, which I've read multiple times. At the end of multiple chapters, it cuts off the last few sentences. Maybe half a minute to a minute? Then it skips to the next one. messes with the flow. Maybe an issue with editing? I'm not terribly fond of this oversight, as you miss some of the best bits. Hope this can be fixed...?

I love how each central character had their own narrator! Each one is superbly skilled. Not gonna lie, my favorite was Carmelina. The descriptions of food had my mouth watering! And it also didn't hurt that Ronan Vibert sounds "a bit" like Peter Dinklage. I kept picturing Leonello as Tyrion Lannister, so I just rolled with it...overall excellent book!!!

Oh my heart! This bittersweet final book of the trilogy is perfection! Madame Adélaïde and Madame du Berry are the two central perspectives of this book. Both so different, but bound in their love to the same man. Du Berry was the last love of Louis' life, but clashed with Madame Adelaide, whose personality and mannerisms are so interesting! Their transformations from the death of Louis XV and the onset and "execution" of the French Revolution are also incredibly poignant. And again Wiley does not disappoint! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This trilogy had me wanting to re‐listen before I even finished! 5/5!

This book is told from the perspective of the Marquise de Pompadour, Adelaide (Louis XV's daughter) and his various petite mistrsses. Again, I love how Wiley gives the many daughters of Louis XV their own personality through her voice. Madame de Pompadour was with Louis XV the longest out of his many lovers, and I believe her "reign" saw his greatest transformation to the "debauched libertine" history knows him to be. I also love how Christie gives his lesser mistresses their own perspective as well, especially Morphise (Louise O'Murphy) who was just a teenager when she became the king's lover. It shows the darker side of 18th century France, and gives the story versatility. 5/5!!

This is so far the only series to treat all of the women in Louis XV's life. Historical detail is rich and the story is poignant and reflects the human condition; love, sorrow, ambition, life cut short, living with death and loss in old age. It's bittersweet perfection! I l also love how Elizabeth Wiley gives distinct voice to each of the characters, especially the five sisters. Some voices are nasaly and exaggerated, but it serves to give personality, and remember, this class of people WERE very flamboyant and exaggerated, in dress and mannerisms. She captures it perfectly.

Robert Petkoff brought this sexy Estonian vampire to life MAGNIFICENTLY!

Although I found his voicing of Neomi to be a little ehhh at times, I liked it for the most part. This is to be expected for voicing female characters.

Honestly, I'd rather have a male narrator for erotic romance novels anyway, there's nothing more awkward than a female narrator trying to imitate men during sex scenes...it just doesn't jive with my brain.

anyway...I heavily recommend this title! you won't regret it!
