Excellent story, but excruciating emotional development
Revisado: 03-24-25
OMG! Hang in there, the book is worth it, I promise! No spoiler alerts, but I found this book to be both very well written per usual, as well as being X excruciating in terms of the emotional development. Multiple times I had to stop reading because I was crying so much. The only negative aspect that I would point out is that in a couple of sections of the book, the author repeats themselves multiple times, expressing the same point. I’m not sure if this was an intentional part, or just a missed editing opportunity. Aside from that, Very well done as always!

A lot to unpack
Revisado: 02-04-24
In order to avoid spoilers, I’m not going to go into too much detail. The main thing to me about the two books so far in the series is that there is a lot to unpack here… Socially, morally, etc. I started out really loving these books, and frankly I still do. First… Let’s get the negative stuff out of the way. There is a lot of deep-seated and internalized, homophobia, transphobia, and religious trauma, and these books. That is not to say that the author is or espouses any of these things, I don’t believe they do. The problem is that, essentially these books are at least impart, both an allegory of the transition process, and the coming out process. The poison fruit concept is really problematic, and the use of a feminine figure as, “evil“ is also problematic for me. That being said, though, once you get past the main characters, heavily red flag laden behavior, these are truly excellent books and I would highly recommend them. Just be worn going in that the issues dealt with by the MC are not easy ones to read about or to deal with.

Dragons, catgirls, guns, and magic—oh, and the ability to stop time. What more could a modern gal want? Well... If my past would stay locked in a dark corner back on Earth, that'd be nice. Right, there was that one other thing: finding a way home before the world ends. But hey, that's what my mom would call the last step in your five-year plan. The first? Play with magic.

Promising start!
Revisado: 10-11-23
This is a very promising start to a series. The story is emotionally, rich, as well as having decently developed characters. The path to progression is a little bit complicated… But not overly so. As long as you pay attention and have a reasonably decent memory, you’ll pick it up quickly. The one problem that I have with the story is that while on her own, Alexis does pretty well… However, when she returns to her companions, she pretty much immediately falls into the people pleasing role. I hope this trend doesn’t continue in future books, or at least gets broken by her. She is an amazing and dynamic character.

Heather Morell is haunted. Otherworldly nightmares and monstrous hallucinations lurk around every corner, relics of childhood bereavement and schizophrenia. Until she meets Evelyn and Raine—a bad-tempered mage and her self-proclaimed bodyguard—and learns that she’s not insane after all. The monsters she sees are all too real, the god-thing in her nightmares is teaching her the secrets of creation, and her twin sister—the lost girl who supposedly never existed—might still be clinging on, a dwindling soul somewhere beyond the walls of reality, Outside.

Incredible work❣️
Revisado: 05-10-23
First of all, let me start by saying that this is the best work that I’ve read in a very long time. The plot line and characters are intricate and well developed, and while I won’t leave any spoilers here, because in my opinion, that defeats the whole purpose of a review in this particular setting. That being said, however, absolutely incredible work, and I am really looking forward to the next installment in the series. I love the dynamic between Heather and Raine.

Revisado: 02-25-23
The Stray Cat Strut series is 100% my happy place! I love watching Cat as she grows and matures into her role as a samurai. I honestly wish that I could give these works more than five stars! Loved the cliffhanger ending too. I’m really looking forward to the next one! Definitely worth every moment of waiting.

Revisado: 01-25-23
I stumbled across this book while browsing through audible selections. I am ridiculously specific when it comes to this genre, and I have very high standards. This book met and exceeded all of them! The main character is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this novel. I am super excited for the next one to be released.

As with every other book written by this amazing and talented woman, I cannot say enough! It was riveting from beginning to end with memorable and beautifully realized characters! It’s too bad that five stars is the highest that can be given. I would recommend this book, or any other by Kirsty Logan.

Personal trainer Rebecca McCall is furious when her coworker is sidelined and she's forced to teach the “Be Your Best Bride” class. The class is full of preening, giggling bridezillas, but one woman stands out: the one who confesses she's only there because her fiancée signed her up. Who does that to someone about whom they care? And why can't Rebecca take her eyes off her?

Love it! Love it! Love it!
Revisado: 01-08-22
OK… So I have to start this review by saying that I have, for most of my life, not been a big fan of romance novels, nor do I write many reviews. However, since starting to read Georgia Beers’ various works, I have been hooked. This novel does not disappoint in the slightest. In fact, I read this in one night and got maybe one hour of sleep. The characters are well developed and exquisite. The situations and emotions are authentic and well written and I love the fact that Spencer actually took the time to figure out what she wanted and worked on herself. I would highly recommend this book to anybody.

It’s been three months since Stark stopped a death cult and a potential ghost apocalypse, and he’s at loose ends. His personal life is a mess. His professional life isn’t much better. LA is gripped by a viral epidemic. But what’s even more frightening is the Shoggot gang and their leader, King Bullet, who revels in the city’s collapse. Who is King Bullet? No one knows. He seemingly came from nowhere with nothing but a taste for mayhem and an army of crazed killers who follow his every command.

WTF!!!
Revisado: 08-19-21
First, thank you Richard for another installment. I've got to say though, WTF! The Sandman Slim series has been a central part of my personal cannon for years. For me, Stark is relatable on several levels, not least of which is the very real struggle with PTSD. I've read and reread these books and was convinced I had a pretty good idea of how things were going to eventually end up, but I was surprised, and not necessarily in a good way. * Spoiler Alert! * I started King Bullet on release day and finished it the same day! I frankly was left depressed and furious. Everybody with any common sense knew that Stark was going to die, but the lead up to his death was humiliating and unfair to Stark. He was constantly used and brutalized, only to end up convinced that everything that had happened to him was his fault. On top of that, major story lines were introduced into the book, and simply left hanging. For example, what about the gaping hole in the universe? What about Wells and the rest of his organization? Was Stark made a full angel when he made it to heaven? Frankly it was as if Richard Kadrey had several ideas as to which way he wanted the story to go, but finally decided to just be done. I expected better, especially with the quality of the previous books. Their has been a lot of talk that this is the last in the series, but I sincerely hope not if only because their are so many loose ends to be tied up. With all that, you might think I don't recommend this book, but that couldn't be further from the truth. But, and I say this with all kinds of love for Richard Kadrey, reader beware!
