I wish authors would get seasoned actors to narrate their work. When this narrator imitated children and young women, especially when they screamed or raised their voices in alarm, the narrator’s voice became as shrill as fingernails on a blackboard and I could not stand it. It was, literally, painful. It detracted from what would otherwise have been a pleasant story. How unfortunate.

I could barely finish listening to this because the woman narrating it set my nerves on edge. She had one vocal inflection: a hesitant gasp at the end of each sentence. It was beyond irritating, and was a detraction from the story. Please find professional actors to narrate these books! I will avoid any other books with her as the narrator. I barely could stand listening to these two performers and nearly stopped. Only the story kept me going. I will not purchase any more audible books in which they are the narrators. Please get good actors for future books!

Narrator’s Voice Often Nerve-Grating

When the narrator attempts to impersonate children, or women who are excited or stressed, her voice assumes an unnaturally high squeak that not only is ridiculous, but it grates on the nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. It was so irritating that it to made me want to stop listening. I certainly will not listen again.
