Love the story but the narrator...
Revisado: 02-03-23
Fascinating story that kept me listening despite a disappointing reader. I feel bad for the author having this narrator dictate his book.
He can do two British dialects, super posh and OTT chavvy. He's also one of those male readers that makes women sound like mice, which drives me mad. And to top it off, despite the book being based in England, and every other character in the book having a British accent, the main character bizarrely has an American accent, and to make it worse, he occasionally says A.R.S.E in a super British accent, which is so jarring.
Despite all of this, the book was so good I persevered right to the end, and was glad I did amazing storyline that kept me gripped!

Very few unique voices used by the narrator, which is a shame cos the book was great!

Narrator is absolutely fantastic
Revisado: 10-26-22
The story is great, I've loved every installment in this book series. The characters are really fun and likeable. And they all have a nice arc. But what really sells this series is the narrator. She is absolutely fantastic! I don't think I've ever heard another narrator being able to do so many voices and yet make them so distinct you instantly know who's talking. Wow. Just wow.

Historia
Dolli was just getting to like the idea of being the overlord of Monster Haven when a roaming Warmonger set his eyes on her dungeon core. Some of her citizens have defected to the enemy horde for the promise of safety, and now Dolli has a choice to make. Does she wipe them out to save those who remain, or does she sacrifice herself to save them all? But the defectors don’t know that the Warmonger has an even more sinister plot than just consuming Dolli’s core—and when they finally see his true monstrous nature, will it be too late?

Can't Get Enough
Revisado: 10-19-22
Both the missus and I are hooked on this series. The first book was really good, great character development and good story. But thus one? Wow! I was wondering how the author would keep it interesting, but wow did she ever? So much goodness in this story. Plotlines from the first book is brought together and expanded, the humour is fantastic, and the adventure and character growth is so good.
Can't get enough of this series or writer so jumping straight on to the next book!

Historia
Dolli had a very hands-off approach to ruling her once booming village. She preferred to use her alchemical skills to brew a nice cup of tea and keep whiny petitioners off her lawn with Wendigo repellant. But she pays the price for her apathy when her neglected village transforms into a Dungeon, making it fair game for any Hero with a lust for loot.

Thrilling read
Revisado: 10-09-22
This is my first dungeon LitRPG type story, but I have to say I absolutely loved it. The characters are likeable, the story engaging, and there's lots and lots of action and adventure going on.
It's kind of a "short read" for some, but I still think the pace is nicely set without feeling rushed.
As always JD Astra's book as an incredible narrator. I loved listening to her bring this book to life.
I came straight over from the author's previous series Firebrand, and I may have been turned into a superfan. I think this author has a wonderful way and a real talent for telling stories.

Good Start w Great Potential
Revisado: 10-09-22
To start off, thus story has a lot of BIPOC and LGBTQAI rep which, as a BIPOC trans man, I really appreciate. Because, yes, representation matters.
The performance of this book is absolutely stellar, though as is very common for American narrators, the Irish accent is a little bit rocky. Not so much that it distracts, but it's definitely not a great impression. Other than that the narrator does a great job brining the story to life.
The story is a little but rocky, it has some really good moments that had me laughing so hard, I had to replay them. There is a bit of insta love which is not my personal preference, but will satisfy those readers who like a little extra romance. All-in-all a good start with potential to be a great series.

Revisado: 09-10-22
Really good storyline, incredibly well fleshed out world and the writing has improved on book two. The voice actor is good when he is the main character, but give him an accent to do and...well for me I've just had to let it become a running joke in order to keep listening. A shame, but he isn't the first and won't be the last.

Jack Mitchell knows he won't survive the impact of the massive asteroid hurtling towards Earth. He's not one of the handful of lucky lottery winners scheduled for rescue. But he did luck into a NexGenVR capsule, which means Jack can risk a one-way trip to the world of Viridan Gate Online (V.G.O.), an ultra-immersive fantasy role-playing game. Taking that leap of faith, though, means permanently trapping his mind in the game and killing his body in the process.

Great world & story, shame about the voice actor
Revisado: 09-08-22
A very fun, interesting concept based in an exceptionally well fleshed out world. I found the Firebrand series first which are fantastic so after starting there with such an amazing voice actor and very well written book I was a little disappointed with this one. Love listening to another side of the story. But the use of the word 'titties' alone lost him one star on the story and the voice actor is really bad at doing voices other than his own. I'll carry on listening cos I like the storyline so far but this is definitely not the best representation of it.
