Historia
After thirteen months at war, Vittorio Gandy is haunted by memories. Once a gifted painter, now he can’t bear the vivid, bleeding colors on a canvas. His young son doesn’t remember him, and his wife, Valerie, is scared of him. But the most disconcerting change is in Vitto’s father, Robert Gandy, who has fallen from being a larger-than-life sculptor to a man whose heart has been broken by the death of his muse—Vitto’s mother. When Robert steals away in the night, Valerie, Vitto, and his new acquaintance and fellow veteran John go to the only place Robert might remember.

A unique blend of history and magical realism, of the Renaissance and Greek mythology. If only the Tuscany hotel was real! What a wonderful story!

Imaginative!!
Revisado: 08-22-24
What a fascinating story that blends magical realism with history, and with a touch of horror. I’ve read this author’s other works as JH Markert, and while this was toned down from those, it was no less thrilling. Highly recommended for fans of light horror, history and the supernatural!

Historia
Dr. Wolfgang Pike would love nothing more than to finish the requiem he’s composing for his late wife, but the ending seems as hopeless as the patients dying a hundred yards away at the Waverly Hills Tuberculosis sanatorium. If he can’t ease his own pain with music, he tries to ease theirs—but his boss thinks music is a waste, and in 1920s Louisville, the specter of racial tensions looms over everything. When a retired concert pianist arrives, Wolfgang is thrust into an orchestra of the most extraordinary kind that emerges to change everything.

Beautiful historical fiction
Revisado: 06-15-24
Loved this beautiful story or triumph and pain, of racism and faith, but at its core is the overwhelming theme of the power of music, and how it can heal and create that place where hope resides

Fast and furious and brutal and gory, with a completely bada$$ heroine and a surprising amount of heart. Highly recommended quick listen!

Historia
The small town of Harrod’s Reach has seen its fair share of the macabre, especially inside the decrepit old train tunnel around which the town was built. After a young boy, Sully Dupree, is injured in the abandoned tunnel and left in a coma, the townspeople are determined to wall it up. Deputy sheriff Beth Gardner is reluctant to buy into the superstitions until she finds two corpses at the tunnel’s entrance, each left with strange calling cards inscribed with old lullabies. Soon after, Sully Dupree briefly awakens from his coma.

So original! The mix of horror with the history of the tunnel was perfect, loved the characters… Teddy Lomax, oh my! And the glimpses of Lalaland leave me begging for more!
