Jeremy Irons was a phenomenal choice to narrate this.

Wow- great "quick" listen. Great narration by Jeremy Irons, more of him, please. Compelling and "easy to listen to" story that can spark long intellectual discussions. Would be great for a book club or a literature class. Loved it.

Justice for Amundsen!

Informative. Good. Jumps around somewhat but not too hard to follow. I really enjoyed learning about these "accounts" of discovering the pole.

Very self-indulgent. Not really about the child.

I just felt like this book was an opportunity for the author to talk about herself. Really, really did not like it.

Compelling story... if a little bit unnecessary at times
Revisado: 01-21-25
Great historical fiction. I enjoyed the story immensely but, as I normally read non-fiction, a lot parts of the story were a tad racy/ gory for my taste. Be warned but don't let it put you off because the tale is worth it.

Classic! Absolutely loved it.

The reader was rather overdramatic with the french names at times but I did enjoy his ability to make almost every character sound different. So many twists and turns I never knew about (having only ever seen the movie and never read the book). Very good audiobook.
