Historia
From backrooms of Max's and CBGB's to the Tropicana Hotel in Los Angeles and back, Punk Avenue is a tour de force of stories from someone at the heart of the era. With brilliant, often hilarious prose, Phil Marcade relays first-hand tales about spending a Provincetown summer with photographer Nan Goldin and actor-writer Cookie Mueller, having the Ramones play their very first gig at his party, working with Blondie's Debbie Harry on French lyrics for her songs, enjoying Thanksgiving with Johnny Thunders' mother, and starting the beloved NYC punk-blues band The Senders.

Horrible
Revisado: 10-01-23
Reads like a bad Harlequin romance, narrated like reading from a little girl's diary from an uninteresting character. Hellboy himself is sidelined as a group character. Worst of all are the performances by Sofia Balerio performed by Carolla Parmejano and Inspector Barbosa performed by Sebastian Zancanaro. In an attempt for realistic nationalities, the performances are wooden and irritating. The only good element is the performance of Hellboy himself, as close to Ron Perlman as we'll get. Unfortunately the written material is plagued with filler language, unnecessary conversations and plot holes that make a weak story an irritating slog. As a Hellboy fan, irs a huge disappointment.

Movie novel bores
Revisado: 11-09-22
Considering this was never a book originally, the story reads like what it is: a boring, poorly written story that tries to cyphon what made The Exorcist such a great read--but fails in comparison. Characters jump in and out of logical reactions without explanation. Readers care very little for anyone in the story so any threat throughout contains no menace or any sense of urgency. As I listened, it felt like I was hearing a bad TV script from that time period. It would better instead to enjoy The Exorcist without suffering through the weak and exploitive imitation.

Historia
Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Read by the author in tones and voices meant to convey his exact intentions and performances from his book. Contains both darkness and levity, I found this to be an excellent read, only enhanced by the equally excellent movie version. Highly recommended.

Revisado: 10-23-22
Hard to get through the overdramatic and weak performances; annoyingly long-overly loud-amateur musical score, despite a strong Joe Hill story. Too much additional dialog by poor writing not written by Hill takes you out of the story while trying to add to adapt what should have stayed a perfect comic book. It results in a hard to fathom annoying melodrama which can be blamed on the unnecessary production. Even as a free product. it was extremely hard to stick with. Not worth the time needed to slog through it. Stick with the comic book.

We Got the Best from Paul
Revisado: 12-06-21
Paul was my first hero after Godzilla and Spider-man. The music of KISS gave me my first band, my first concert and turned me into a performing songwriter musician. This book is the best autobiography of the original four. At times glorious, at others depressing to discover some of the downsides they experienced. It was a grand trip down memory lane with plenty of surprises, Easter eggs and modern day appreciation of my biggest musical influence. Thanks Paul. Well done.
