This well-researched and well-written book does not merely recite the history of an oft-forgotten trial, but offers penetrating insight and analysis. The narrator is magnificent. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to understand how the aftermath of WW2 shapes our current world.

This marvelous book, well written and read, helps explain how today’s political rhetoric equates discrimination and book bans as acts of “freedom.”

You'll look at agriculture, your dinner plate, and your life differently after listening to Lynn Cassells tell the story of how she and Sandra Baer learned how to farm by learning how to live with nature, and with each other. We loved seeing them on "This Farming Life" without fully realizing how their spunky persistence enabled them to learn through success and failure. This book was even better than expected. Hearing Lynn voice her and Sandra's journey to self-sufficiency made us want to cheer for them all the more. Do yourself a favor and listen.

This top-notch audio documentary offers a truly unique insight into why an American raised Catholic would join ISIS. It also offers a fascinating look at how a tough, resourceful and fair-minded investigative reporter sought to verify each piece of the story. You can disagree with everything Russell Dennison ever did or said and still be glad to learn insights into the motivations and methods that remain alive today. It was so compelling I lengthened my daily exercises so I could listen to the next chapter.

Cynthia Barnett is a colleague at the University of Florida, and I know her work to be of the highest quality. Still, that did not prepare me to enjoy this audiobook so much that I raced to finish it. It showed me animals and places about which I knew far less than I had thought. It introduced me to scientists, and especially women, whose contributions have benefitted humanity. It relied on data while always translating it into human terms. It mixed history and science in a way I’ve rarely encountered. Best of all, the storytelling made me care more about the sea and how we treat nature -- and as a result, re-evaluate my role in it. The narration is excellent as well. Highly recommended.

We All Need To Be Dragons

This book is a gift to humanity. Covid has exposed our collective unwillingness to plan for and react to deadly pandemics. Michael Lewis has crafted a page-turner that reveals science through the eyes and actions of smart and courageous people (with dragons as spirit animals) who did everything they could to mitigate the damage. More important, he has identified the systemic flaws that no human, however heroic, can overcome. Implicit in this book is a road map to improve the public health system so we can better cope with the next pandemic. The only way it will get fixed is if more people listen to this book and demand the changes we need, and in so doing honor the memories of those whose lives were needlessly lost.
