Sound very bad
Revisado: 02-05-25
First, I enjoyed the story. And the narrator in general was good. BUT, the women's voices were often so soft I could not hear them without raising the volume and then that really crazy guy would practically scream his lines and blow my eardrums out. I listen with an earbud, as most people do, and those parts were very unpleasant.
And why do so many of these audios keep being interrupted with a woman's voice overlaying the narration saying "A thriller". Other genre's don't do that. It's very annoying.

Historia
In Juneau, a young Native archeologist is sent to protect the ancient burial sites uncovered by an Alaskan gold mining company. He never returns. In Anchorage, a female torso - minus head, hands, and feet - is washed ashore near a jogging trail by the airport. It is not the first. At Alaska’s Fugitive Task Force, Arliss Cutter and deputy Lola Teariki are pulled from their duties and sent to a federal court in Juneau. Instead of tracking dangerous fugitives, Cutter and Lola will be keeping track of sequestered jurors in a high-profile trial.

Crazy the things some people will do to others for their own profit. Good thing we have U.S. Marshals to catch these people. Really enjoyed the book and the narrator.

Historia
After an early spring thaw on the Alaskan coast, Anchorage police discover a gruesome new piece of evidence in their search for a serial killer: a dismembered human foot. In Kincaid Park, a man is arrested for attacking a female jogger. Investigators believe they have finally captured the sadistic serial killer. But one deputy is sure they have the wrong man. In the remote northern town of Deadhorse, Alaska, Deputy US Marshal Arliss Cutter escorts three handcuffed prisoners onto a small bush plane on route to Anchorage.

This was a rough one!
Revisado: 01-10-25
I enjoyed this story very much, so much suspense and action. The terrain and weather in Alaska make me glad I don't live there! And the narrator was great as usual.

Historia
Winter comes early to the rural native community of Stone Cross, Alaska - and so does hunting season. Caribou and moose are a major source of food through the long, dark months ahead. But Arliss Cutter has come here for a very different game. A federal judge is receiving death threats and refuses protection. Cutter and his deputy Lola Teariki have been assigned to shadow him on his trip to this icy outland to make sure that he's safe. But they quickly discover that no one is ever really safe in a place like this. And no one is above suspicion....

Leaning a lot about Alaska and it's people.
Revisado: 12-31-24
Enjoyed learning about the native people of Alaska. What a tough bunch. Cutter is a great character, but there were many interesting characters in this book. One negative note, there were several times when the action was interrupted by too much explanation of indigenous behaviors. And I really don't like it when a dog, horse or cat dies.

Historia
US Marshal Arliss Cutter is a born tracker. Raised in the swamplands of Florida, he honed his skills in the military, fought in the Middle East, and worked three field positions for Marshal Services. When it comes to tracking someone down - or taking someone out - Cutter's the best. But his newest assignment is taking him out of his comfort zone to southeast Alaska. Cold, dark, uninhabited forests that are often shrouded in fog. And it's the kind of case that makes his blood run cold.

This is one of the kinds of books I really like. A really great main character and a crew of supporting characters. Lots of action but not too gory. And I really like the narrator.

Historia
Professor Theo Cray is trained to see patterns where others see chaos. So when mutilated bodies found deep in the Montana woods leave the cops searching blindly for clues, Theo sees something they missed. Something unnatural. Something only he can stop. As a computational biologist, Theo is more familiar with digital code and microbes than the dark arts of forensic sleuthing.

4 stars should be GOOD, not great.
Revisado: 11-17-24
As a biologist, PhD and all, i was put off by much of this main character. I've spent a lot of time in the field, but I was never dumb enough to go out by myself. I worked and collected in rivers and streams, and always approached under the bridges with caution. I was appalled at the MC's lack of common sense. I thought about quitting on the book, but I rarely do that. That said, by the end I was very involved in the story so have now pressed on to book 2. Not so sure about it yet, but the MC seems to have gained some common sense. Seriously folks, brains are not enough!

Will read book 2
Revisado: 11-04-24
I liked the story. Didn't love it. Really didn't like the name "Redd" because it sounds just like the color red and I kept thinking he should have red hair. I found it very annoying. Had I been reading an actual book, it might not have bothered me. I also didn't like him being called Matty. The story kept me interested but the whole sequence of events was quite improbable. I know it's fiction, but a bit too far-fetched. All that said, I'll probably listen to book 2.

To have any chance of reaching safety in Fortress Britain, Master Sergeant Yaël Sion must first escape the collapsing gravity well of Israel as it's devoured from within by merciless jihadi fighters, striking in the chaos of rampaging hordes of infected civilians, all in a global pandemic spiraling out of control.

Had a bit of trouble with the MC
Revisado: 10-19-24
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I learned more about the history of Israel and that has encouraged me to look up more. I like a lot of action and there was certainly that. SPOILER ALERT HERE: But I did not enjoy the MC at all, though she could really take care of herself. And I couldn't argue with the fact that she left situations where she was probably going to get killed. But, might others be saved if she stayed? I could not relate to her only wanting to be alone. Just reading about one person is not enjoyable to me. I am hoping that will change somewhat in the second book.

Historia
Dina Demille may run the nicest Bed and Breakfast in Red Deer, Texas, but she caters to a very particular kind of guest… the kind that no one on Earth is supposed to know about. Guests like a former intergalactic tyrant with an impressive bounty on her head, the Lord Marshal of a powerful vampire clan, and a displaced-and-superhot werewolf; so don’t stand too close, or you may be collateral damage.

Lots of actions
Revisado: 09-06-24
In addition to the action, there is ROMANCE! The Graphic audio version is great. Dina has a lot of choices to make and has to stand tall to protect her guests. Several trips off-world provide some interesting contrasts. And Sean is perfect!
