So very touching
Revisado: 09-17-21
My heart went out to Rose, the Wild Dog, Sam, Katie, and all the farm animals. So very touching and passionate. Jon Katz and Tom Stechschulte should be in the Hall of Fame, if they’re not already. At certain parts I wept with abandon.

In this John Grisham-style mystery, Matt Royal, the retired lawyer turned beach bum is called back into the courtroom to defend his girlfriend J. D. Duncan's Aunt Esther, who lives in the sprawling North Central Florida retirement community of The Villages. A best-selling author has been murdered after a book signing, and Aunt Esther has been arrested. Matt has a history with the local sheriff - one which may not bode well for his client.

Matt and JD take on Killers in The Villages
Revisado: 06-29-18
Matt Royal books are a fun fast ride that have proven to be quite popular among author, H Terrell Griffin's, growing fan base. This one, "Vindication" is the second of Matt's sagas that take place in a courtroom setting (the other being "Chasing Justice") where he leaves beach bummery temporarily behind to pull a friend out of the frying pan with his superior tribunal skills. Courtroom dialogue is always fun and really moves the drama along. Expectantly, "Vindication" moves quickly and, as usual, is expertly told by veteran narrator, Steven Roy Grimsley, who's provided the spoken word on all 9 of Matt Royal's mysteries. (Two early Matt Royal books have yet to be made into audiobooks, he said breathlessly.) So, for those who enjoy regional mystery writers and their book's protagonists, aka Matt Royal, from the Florida Gulf Coast, Matt Royal Mysteries are a great beach read/listen especially with all the local geographical references.
I had the unfortunate experience of reading a lengthy trash review of this audiobook in which the author of said review must have spent an hour or two writing it up. My philosophy is when you hear a book you don't like, for any reason, why waste an hour or more trashing that book in a review? Why not just turn it back into Audible, get your credit, and move on to an audiobook you find more to your liking. It took me 5 minutes to write up this review. Do you think for a minute I'd spend an hour trashing an audiobook I didn't like? I could have on many occasions, but why? My philosophy is, let the author, his fans and the narrator have their day. I don't have time for such insidious silliness.

Historia
In 1987 Ken Ham wrote what would become a prophetic warning to the Church about the destructive effects of compromise with evolutionary ideas, and how this compromise undermines Scriptural authority and erodes Christian confidence in the infallibility of God's Word. Today we have Christians not only confused when it comes to Genesis and age of the earth, but even the reality of Hell, Adam as a real person, and Christ's own words about creation, marriage and more are being debated in the pulpits across the world.

The Battle Rages
Revisado: 02-26-18
I've listened to this book 5 times straight. I've been a believer in the literal interpretation of the Genesis 1-11 from my childhood. But, I've never heard this presented in such a convincing manner as it has been in this book. I love it that Ken Ham does not flinch under the avalanche of criticism coming from some Christian groups as well as from the arrogant, yet ignorant and abusive, atheistic Evolutionists. In short, this book has changed my whole perspective on how best to present the gospel - Genesis to Revelation!!

I Am Bill!
Revisado: 02-26-18
Once again Jared Wilson gets down to the nitty gritty of the everyday life of the aspiring Christian. Jared's characters are ragged, worn, flawed, but yearning, wanting to be filled with the Holy Spirit but the world keeps pulling them back, keeps pulling me back. The narrator expresses Wilson's words with such sincerity and empathy. Moving. You get the sense that he feels it too. God bless this wonderful project for our Lord Jesus.

Scott William Carter means solid entertainment!
Revisado: 04-07-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Ghost, the Girl, and the Gold to be better than the print version?
Of course, it always is. It turned the book into a play.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Ghost, the Girl, and the Gold?
The graveyard scene where Myron confesses to Alesha that he sees ghosts. The premise is outlandish but served up with such relish and panache, you just fall into it and wallow around in it like you're in a vat of your favorite nut butter.
Which character – as performed by Steven Roy Grimsley – was your favorite?
Alesha, the loyal longing maybe-lover detective who assists and berates our protagonist, Myron Vale, into doing his best.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end (I wont' give it away) but it tells of how the life of an abandoned girl is given a second chance at life.
Any additional comments?
This is the third in the Myron Vale, Ghost Detective series. The story is a blend of science fiction and the paranormal. It's a fun ride where Carter let's his imagination run wild like a kid on the playground without a curfew.

Albert Johannson's forgotten more than he remembers about his past, but two things he's sure of: hH's lived a long, long time, and he doesn't trust anyone, particularly gods. He's not too fond of demons either, particularly the one that shows up in his kitchen looking for help with a supernatural investigation.

Modern Fantasy Fun Journey
Revisado: 05-12-15
Where does Powers rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
My audiobook preference leans toward the Mystery/Thriller genre. But, I was attracted by the cover art and elected to take a listen, be entertained, and learn more about the modern/urban fantasy genre. Very pleasant and sparky, electrical journey.
What other book might you compare Powers to and why?
"The Chosen" by John G. Hartness.
What about Steven Roy Grimsley’s performance did you like?
Grimsley's narration pulled me in. I judge narrators by how well I forget that the book I'm listening to is being narrated. Grimsley was able to remove himself from the telling and become the characters.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Don't touch the sword. Unlock it!
