Catch a killer, go home to the future
Revisado: 08-12-24
Homicide detective Mallory in 2019 lives in Edinburgh to be near her grandmother who is dying. Out jogging one evening drawn by a scream for help in an alley she is attacked and loses consciousness waking in 1869 as housemaid Catriona Thomson, Victorian Scotland. Mallory must adjust quickly when she wakes to the reality that is now her life. Soon discovering her boss is Dr. Gray, also quietly moonlighting as a medical examiner on unusual cases, the most recent being the strangulation of a young man attacked much as she was. She must help catch the killer and find a way back home to her time before it is too late.
This story is much like a Jack-the-Ripper tale to me, and was very intriguing. I couldn’t quit listening. Very engaging mystery, murder, and fantasy.

Danger, inspiration, courage and hope
Revisado: 07-15-24
Frontier life during the time America was being settled was hard enough for men. When it was a family still a difficult life, but tolerable because several members of a family banded together to create a farm and life for their generations to come. Emma’s life was peaceful with her family on a farm in Missouri when a team of Marauders rode in and slaughtered her family leaving her devastated and alone.
Raised by parents who taught her hard work and courage could help her make it through life in this wilderness she boards a wagon train to find a new life. During the harsh trip on the trail she works for her ticket to be among those in the wagon train with a distraught father of three, falling in love with the children and helping their father heal from losing his loving wife. Along the way she crosses paths with her family’s killers and her anger flares for revenge.
Throughout the story Emma does her best to work hard, learn why people have faith and what it means, and try to get justice.
Enjoyable story of danger, courage, inspiration, and hope during the building of the Wild West.

Well-written suspense/romance
Revisado: 07-05-24
Young adults entering college, still discovering their personalities and interactions with one another and young love. Sarah Browne was orphaned as a young girl and cared for by her mom’s best friend, shy, suffers from PTSD, and prefers to fade into the background. Her roommate Amy is a free spirit who quickly takes Sarah under her wing to protect her from the cocky style of the young adult attitude’s surrounding them at every turn of those who feel they are entitled because they come from wealthy parents.
Scott is Sarah’s first encounter in life with unexpected kindness from a man. He doesn’t appreciate the entitled nature of the elite class he is associated with and becomes a buffer from the abrasive nature of these entitled individuals toward Sarah’s innocence.
There has been danger on campus for a few years where a few girls have disappeared. Scott is wary at every turn, as he falls hard for Sarah and longs to protect her. College life is difficult with Frats, spoiled young adults, innocent young adults all mingling together with the ups and downs of young love and stress of being the best, and keeping grades up.
This book has twists and turns, a very relatable storyline, and suspense to keep you engaged. This book kept me very engaged until the very end. I like Tricia’s writing style and look forward to other books by her.

Determined to discover the owner of a skeletal hand, Raine and her sisters refuse to accept the police chief’s lack of interest in the cold case. Three sisters exploring time travel
Revisado: 06-13-24
Book 1 of an innocent enjoyable time travel series. While it seems to target a young audience, it is great reading for all ages. If listening to the book, the reader reads too fast, especially in the beginning.
These three sisters are inseparable and on their own. Raine has an antique shop and fills it with timeless treasures she finds in several ways. Mostly the three of them look on the beach, in old caves, or as they go exploring.
This wonderful find is an antique watch-looking device that lights up and can be programmed and give them hologram images of happenings in the past. At the same time they find the watch they also find a shallow grave with bones.
Once they accidentally go back to 1960, they begin an adventure of unraveling the mystery of the bones, why the watch sent them back to this era, where the gold they find came from, etc.
Timeless Secrets, Raine is an adventurous, clean mystery. Fun and at times fast-moving. There are twists and turns you don’t expect as well.

Healing Journey of Danger and Love
Revisado: 09-27-19
Emma is very fortunate to have such a devoted twin in her brother Joseph. Who else would run with her on difficult 3 month journey to save her life? Meeting up with Simeon was the bonus they needed to get them through the journey, especially with Joseph wounded and unable to pull his weight. Throughout the journey and pitfalls of winter, Indians, and other dangers in the wilderness, love begins to surface. Simeon has been suffering from his own nightmares for 5 years and needs to face them to allow healing. Well written love story allowing each to come to terms with their own demons. Not a tear-jerker, so I enjoyed listening to an adventure in the face of danger and love.

FUN!

My husband and I listened to this book on a trip together. We had a blast. Since we did live after Babe Ruth, yet still during the height of baseball legends, it was something we were very familiar with. During the entire listen we laughed and reminisced continually. If you are a baseball connoisseur or just enjoy baseball (I used to listen to my dad tell stories), give it a listen. You won't be sorry.

Forever family
Revisado: 08-20-19
I was reminded of "Where The Crawdads Sing" when I was listening to this book. And while nostalgic, this was during a time before there were laws in place to protect children in poverty and orphanages, and of the surviving nature so strong in many children, especially so in siblings. Adoption is a wonderful provision for children and couples alike when seeking family if you haven't one. In this case these children had a choice that was taken from them and their parents because of their social status. However, the story of these siblings touches across decades to find one another again and try not to upset the proverbial "applecart" yet still find their familial ties. The story is told in the style of switching from younger years, to the end of their lives when fading memories and keepsakes begin to surface raising questions. Captivating tale of life-changing experience and holding on to family.

Wild West Fun
Revisado: 08-18-19
Paisley Bell, hearing a name like that just spells trouble. She's not about to allow anyone to tell her she can't do ... whatever she undertakes. Enter Cade O'Brien. Both are vying for the new sheriff's position in town, along with 2 others. While Paisley has been filling in for a bit since the old sheriff decided sheriffin' wasn't for him, she still has to prove to the town she has what it takes to hold the position against rough varmints. Of course she sheriff's in a dress with her holster on her hip, so it is hard to take her serious. Cade is handsome and flirty and a marshal in his own right, therefore he is going to be a problem. The dialogue is fun and witty and paints a great picture so it is easy to follow the story and have a giggle here and there. Definitely worth the listen.

Blown Away
Revisado: 08-18-19
I was blown away by the story. Throughout the book I was captured by the characters and how they intertwined. When you read a story that toggles back and forth from one era or century to another you always look for the connections/hidden meaning. "What the Wind Knows" does not disappoint. Anne Gallagher lives in the 20th century in the US, however when she travels to Ireland to distribute her grandfather ashes things do take a turn to 80 years in the past. As we are whisked away Anne unearths family history that is painful and eyeopening. A love-story unfolds that was never written or told until time intervened. Read, you won't be able to stop listening until you find out what happens between the 2 time periods, settling grandfather's unanswered questions.

Wonderful set through all 4 books!
Revisado: 07-29-19
Beginning with English "Lady Moira" and Montana farmer Pryor MacAteer - confusion at the start. Book 1 is their story, so sweet and capturing, connecting the two with each of the 3 stories in amazing ways. My heart was stolen from beginning to end. Could not put it down!
The only drawback was the narration. While it was pleasant enough, there should have been women for all of the English women and their accent's. It would have made for easier listening. At times I found it a bit grating. However, the stories were so captivating I was able to overlook the narration.
