I don’t understand tha avg 4.5 rating. I kept waiting for it to get better. There’s a hint of a better story to come with the bride conversation but I needed a break to find a book that was interesting. Good luck. Just not hitting any positives for me. Disappointed.

Partway through I thought how can there be so many hours left we’ve already got the story. I should’ve seen it coming, but I didn’t and I will not include a spoiler. But I very much enjoyed. Didnt’t even need all the smut. Kept my interest, liked how they considered one another.

Lead female character too insecure

14 hr of some good humor but by 3.5 hr in i was thinking both m and f needed to grow up. He pouts and lashes out. she’s insecure with little confidence.

Horrible narrator. Ruins the book.

The story seemed interesting so I bought it. I think it might be find as a book to read, but this narrator is so cocky, know-it-all arrogant in her delivery that I couldn't get to past a few chapters.
Save your $ for a book that is a pleasure to hear.

Not For Me

Excruciating. I don't use that word lightly. I tend to buy books along the way and finally began to listen to this one, not recalling it was a work by Kristen Proby. As I come to write the review, I'm surprised and disappointed as I have enjoyed some of her other works, e.g., The Boudreaux Series. So, discounting the skill the author can demonstrate, this book is simply awful. Trite, ridiculous conversations with trite narration. The reader also does not help as the baby voice, though seemingly worked through after the first chapter, is annoying. The beginning offers a different twist, which I enjoyed, but I hung in there for three chapters and it seems the typical romance formula. I can live with that, even expect it, but the verbiage is truly subpar. I see the ratings are 4.0 - again I'm surprised. Read/Listen at your own risk; this one has turned me off of this particular series and likely off of J Mack as well. You know, sometimes one's mood or current thoughts can change how one perceives the book - that's not at all the case here, the book is just so transparently bad that I don't think it'd be worth it even to read vs. listen.

Violence is too graphic.

I love the humor, intelligence, wit as I've read a couple of this series. I just cannot get past the graphic violence, though, and really wish there was a warning about that so I could skip the ones that offer this. I tried turning the volume down but after the second time it was just unfortunate that I'd miss the rest to avoid the seriously graphic/nightmare inducing content.

The writing seems dummied down and repetitive. The dialogue is odd and does not reflect how people talk, e.g., who says "as well" after frequent statements aside from several characters in this book. I ended up skipping around in the last 10-15 chapters and not losing any of the content to tie up events and the ending.
