Awesome Book
Revisado: 06-24-11
I love this book, I bought its omnibus edition a few years ago (yea I know printed on paper and everything!) I loved the story and the book had a great rhythm to it. The book is narrated very well in this version and I've listened to it a number of times which is great as reading real books these days is a struggle because I have trouble finding the time.
The book also shows very little signs of age unlike some so futuristic vision still holds its own.

Not for me
Revisado: 06-24-11
I admit it I was pulled in by the narrators, I am a huge battlestar fan so a book narrated by an XO and senior officer I though what could possible go wrong. I did not enjoy this book at all and cannot actually bring myself to listen to any more of it. I found the descriptive nature of places etc annoying it seemed almost every other sentence described things such as "The book was like wading through treacle with concrete shoes on" situations were compared to other situations in overly verbose fashion and for me the book did not really have any sort of rhythm to it.
Sorry but I didn't like it!

This dazzling memoir promises to be a courageously frank, honest and poignant read. It will detail some of Fry's most turbulent and least-well-known years, with writing that will excite you, make you laugh uproariously, move you, inform you, and, above all, surprise you.

Great book!
Revisado: 06-24-11
Stephens story is certainly not dull at any point and he at all times paints a very vivid picture during his chronicles. I was aware he had a shall we say a colourful past and his rise to fame is very well documented through these narrated pages. Very enlightening I shall be listening to his others with great interest.

Great book!
Revisado: 06-24-11
This book surprised me by how it drew me into the action. I came across this book by chance, not quite knowing what to spend my credit on next. The story is very engaging and portrays the scope of the battles really well. I would like to know a little more about the history leading upto the books, how the syndics and the alliance formed but that may become more apparent as I get further into the books.
I'm very pleased with my random choice of audio book!

Scandal, treachery and crime are rife in Old London Town. A king blackmailed by his mistress, dark dealings in opium dens, stolen jewels, a missing bride - these are cases so fiendishly complex that only Sherlock Holmes would dare to investigate.

Elementary!
Revisado: 11-19-10
Derek Jacobi delivers Sherlock in fantastic form, the adventures seem short to begin with but as you get further into the book the stories get longer and more involved, which is quite a stroke of genius by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. the audio presentation sounds very authentic and as sherlock should be (I still only ever picture sherlock as jeremy brett), I would recommend this version of the adventures over any others.

Historia
The Cybermen make their first ever appearance whilst William Hartnell's Doctor nears the end of his first incarnation, in this classic soundtrack adventure with linking narration by Anneke Wills. The year is 1986, and at the South Pole the crew of the Snowcap Base have detected a new planet on their radar. The arrival of the Doctor, Ben, and Polly at the Base coincides with another landing, that of a spaceship whose humanoid passengers have used cybernetics to replace their limbs and vital organs.

The end of the 1st Doctor
Revisado: 11-19-10
I really enjoyed this audio title, the acting naturally is top class due to most of it been taken from the tv print. At this point it is very evident that Bills health was failing him due to his absence totally in one episode. The voices and style may seem a little hammy these days but this was cutting edge stuff in its time, and whoever doesn't like a wobbly set scifi romp doesn't really like scifi at all.
Bill is in my opinion one of the best doctors and I would love to see another grumpy old doctor before the end of the 12 regeneration.
Well worth a listen even if it just for the regeneration scene!
