As a New Yorker who read and listened to every transcript made available in the case against Andrew Cuomo, none of this came as a surprise. All it did was anger me all over again. It reminded me that a handful of people were able to undo the vote of millions simply for their own personal and political gain. This book shows how fragile MeToo truly was, and how only a corrupt few individuals were able to upend a movement, and potentially ruin the credibility of true victims everywhere. Boylan and Bennett’s actions will be felt for decades.

As for the press and the AG… There is a reason people don’t trust government and the press. To understand why, look no further than the case against Andrew Cuomo. The chief law enforcement officer for the state is expected to uphold the law. When they don’t, it raises ethical questions and makes room for corruption allegations. And when the press blatantly turns a blind eye? It destroys journalistic integrity everywhere.

In the end, I found myself brought tears. Not because of the injustice of it all. But because of what Melissa DeRosa had to endure. She’s been a champion for women her entire life. Despite what she might feel like, that didn’t go unnoticed by those who actually matter. The loud minority are just that—the minority. I hope to see great things from MDR—a true trailblazer—in the future.

An inspiration for all women

A heroic tale of a trailblazer who has secured her place in history next to the most influential women. Her description of the foreign service was educational yet riveting, and the betrayal she suffered should be a lesson learned. She also paints a picture of life in the foreign service that is not often talked about. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is exploring a career in the foreign service, or for anyone who has a family member serving.

Blown away

I’ve been in a reading funk, and decided to change from my usual genre favorites. Pick this up on a whim, and I was blown away! This is the best book I have listened to in a very long time. Mark my words, this will be on the big screen one day. Fabulous storyline with emotional female narration that made me feel as if I were living it!

Amazing story

I can honestly say that I won’t watch reruns of Friends quite the same way again. I have a new appreciation for the show now. Whether it was of his own making or the fault of others, one would think Matthew Perry might be jaded after everything he’s been through. He’s not. I finished this book with a feeling that he is genuinely a good guy. He crafted a beautifully written story about addiction that was both tragic and inspirational. It’s recommended reading for all.

Amazing recount

This extraordinary recount of Lis Smith’s lived experiences is unfathomable to me—especially considering her age. She has seen and done more than many have done in a lifetime. I found this book to be enlightening, as it echoed so many of my own cynicisms about politics but also my belief that there are still good people fighting for us. Many things she talks about I didn’t know. Some things I agreed with, others I didn’t. But one thing is for sure—I’ll be voting for Pete Buttigieg if he runs again for president.

Arrogance.

This book was full of self-congratulations & showed exactly how huge Will Smith’s ego is. The narration/performance was good, and the story was decently crafted. However, I was shocked by his arrogance. I lost count of how many times he mentioned the millions he brought to the box office, or how many times he said he was the greatest actor in the world.

I’ve always been a huge Will Smith fan and I really didn’t think he was like this. I was beyond disappointed and my entire opinion of him changed. He didn’t do himself any favors by writing this. Now I just think he’s a jerk.

Best Audiobook of the year!

I’ve followed Kennedy Ryan and her success stories for quite a while now. However, this was the first book that I’ve read/listened to by her. This is, without a doubt, the best audiobook I have ever listen to. Long Shot captured real emotion that so many authors can only aspire to capture and the narrators literally NAILED the performance. There’s a reason Kennedy is a RITA award winner and this book taught me why. It floored me in ways I can’t even begin to describe. I’m looking forward to more by her and will be one-clicking the next book in the Hoop series!

This is probably the funniest book I’ve ever read/listened to! Erin Mallon’s snarky wit made Julia Kent’s words even funnier! A must listen!
