Historia
Former Broadway dancer and current agoraphobic Billy Shine has not set foot outside his apartment in almost a decade. He has glimpsed his neighbors--beautiful manicurist Rayleen, lonely old Ms. Hinman, bigoted and angry Mr. Lafferty, kind-hearted Felipe, and nine-year-old Grace and her former addict mother, Eileen. But most of them have never seen Billy. Not until Grace begins to sit outside on the building's front stoop for hours every day, inches from Billy's patio.

Heartwarming Story
Revisado: 06-07-22
This was a wonderful story, well written and very well narrated. My first book by this author but I can be sure it won't be my last. I am always amazed at how authors can weave the characters together into a story that teaches its readers about what really matters in life. This is a great example; don't hesitate to listen, it will make you smile, laugh and cry while it leaves a lasting impression on your heart.

Historia
If there's been a theme in Justine Meade's life, it's loss. Her mother, her home, even her son. The one bright spot in her loss-filled life, the partner she could always count on, was Mack, her grey and black Sheltie – that is, until she is summoned back to her childhood home after more than twenty years away. Ed and Alice Parmalee are mourning a loss of their own. Seven years after their daughter was taken from them, they're living separate lives together. Dancing around each other, and their unspeakable heartbreak, unable to bridge the chasm left between them.

Historia
When facing the impossible, will you believe? Storm clouds gather over a small Michigan town. As thunder shakes the sky, the lights inside St. Thomas Church flicker...and then go out. All is black until a thick bolt of lightning slices the sky, striking the church’s large wooden cross - leaving it ablaze and splintered in two. When the storm ends, the search for answers begins. James Lindy, the church’s blind minister, wonders how his small congregation can repair the cross and keep their faith in the midst of adversity.

Too much like a "fairy tale"
Revisado: 08-15-14
Although, I realize that this is a fictional story, I really think it's written more like a fairy tale. I am a Christian and fully believe in the miracles of God. However, I don't think this story was a fair and accurate way to portray how God delivers his miracles. The way things happen in this story are not very "believable". I would not recommend it; there are many other books that do a much better job of portraying the manner in which our God demonstrates His love and care for His people.

Few books besides the Bible have been translated, printed, and read as often as The Pilgrim's Progress. John Bunyan's classic allegory of Christian, the Pilgrim, on his perilous journey to the Celestial City has touched hearts and minds for more than 300 years, and still the demand continues.

Classic Masterpiece
Revisado: 07-25-14
I cannot say anything about this book that has not already been said. It has so much meaning and wisdom for people from every age and time. I had heard it referred to in several other good books that I have listened to and decided it was time to listen to it. The narrator was superb as usual (I have heard other works by Max McLean) and that is the reason I chose this version as there are many to choose from. However, along with other listeners I too, was disappointed that the second part of the book was not included. (If not for that it would have received 5 stars across the board) As soon as the book ended, I immediately started it over again and will most likely listen to it numerous times. And I'm thinking I will probably purchase another version that does include the second part of the book so I can find out how the wife and children make their journey. Great literature!

Good story, marginal narrator
Revisado: 05-03-14
This was an interesting book and a good story, but I had a hard time listening to this narrator. Also, I didn't care for some of the foul language which was occasionally inserted, could have left that out and not damaged the story line. I almost gave up on this book too early when the young modern day teens were described in a "making out" scene. That too, could have been left out. However, I am glad that I tolerated that and finished the book because it was an interesting story. Again, the narrator was difficult to listen to and it took me about 3/4 of the book to get used to it.

From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a magnificent novel about two unforgettable American women. Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world - and it is now the newest Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

Great Book
Revisado: 04-18-14
I loved Sue Monk Kidd's' book "Secret Life of Bees" , which I thought would be a hard act to follow, but I was not disappointed. This book was every bit as good. I was not aware until the end of the book that it was historical fiction and was pleasantly surprised to hear the author at the end of the book explaining why she had written the book and which parts where fact and which parts she embellished with her own imagination. The narration was superb and made the book come to life. Amazing talent from all angles!
