The author does warn the listener about the gruesome depictions of the crimes, and he’s not kidding.
The book was interesting but I had to skip through the most graphic details of the crimes. Still, it was interesting to hear an actual prosecutor discuss the work. The author narrates, and does a good job.

The story was well crafted, and I liked the narrator. As with many popular authors, Mr. Turow’s work could have done with a serious edit. The story wandered in places, but overall, it was worth a credit.

A Good Story with Surprising Turns

The story is set in the Southern, and may be a bit unbelievable. To those raised in other environments, the story may seem a bit far-fetched- it’s not. Keeping up appearances can be everything.

The Twist is Just Too Farfetched

The story flowed well, and kept my attention but the surprise twist was just too far-fetched. After that point, the book was very predictable.

A Public Servant, An Esteemed Doctor, and Scientist

I almost balked at the length of the book, but it reads like a good novel. It’s the story of an incredible life, in an extraordinary time for the world. Dr. Fauci tells his story without denigrating those who held opposing views, and often made his life difficult. The history of the AIDS crisis, and other lesser pandemics, helped me understand how the COVID pandemic was inevitable. This is definitely worth reading, regardless of your opinion of his work.

The Power of Love to Transcend the Horror of Natzi Occupation.

The book is set in WWII occupied Poland, and in Florida today. The story captures the brutality faced by the Polish people, but it wasn’t so graphic that I couldn’t continue listening. Given voice by an excellent narrator, it’s an exceptional book.

Solid story, but a lot of characters to keep straight.

I enjoyed the story and didn’t figure out the ending in advance. There were a lot of characters to keep up with, and that was a little tough. Definitely worth a listen, though. The narrator is excellent.

An Incredible Story- The Heartbreak of Vietnam, and Redemption

I haven’t given 5 stars many times, but this book deserved it. It’s a story of friendship, grit, determination, and survival of an Army nurse set in the stench of the Vietnam war. It also portrays the terrible treatment of veterans who served and came home. You’ll root for Frankie through it all and won’t be disappointed.
