I liked it
Revisado: 05-13-24
This was the first book I’ve listened to by both the author and the narrator. The author did a wonderful job of portraying life in the 1800’s especially for women. She also wove in interesting facts and information of the time period. I think to understand the ending you would definitely need to read/listen to the first 2 books.
The narrator kept the flow between characters crisp and bright. I never questioned who was talking. Great job!
I listen as I walk my dogs mornings and evenings but found myself finding other activities to do so I could continue listening. I look forward to more stories with these heroines.

Jackson Rivers has always bucked the rules—and bucking the rules of recovery is no exception. Now that he and Ellery are starting their own law firm, there’s no reason he can’t rush into trouble and take the same risks as always, right? Maybe not. Their first case is a doozy, involving porn stars, drug empires, and daddy issues, and their client, Henry Worrall, wants to be an active participant in his own defense.

Worth the wait
Revisado: 11-24-23
I am so glad that I waited for this to come out on audio! I had listened to the first 5 books and this one is just as good!
Narration was spot on. Storyline kept me invested and introduced a few new characters. And I absolutely love “LucySatan” as a name for Taylor! I hope this series continues. I will buy them all on audio!

Historia
This movie was supposed to be my big break. There’s an enormous budget, the director is an Oscar winner, and the script is beautiful. But they want to film it in February. That’s complicated for an arctic fox shifter like me. We have a biological need for prolonged physical contact during burrowing season. I normally spend February cuddling with my family, not filming a movie in the middle of the woods. The studio said they’d find a professional cuddler for me. That seemed a little awkward, but I agreed to it. I figured they’d hire a woman or another male omega. But no.

Great Feel Good Story
Revisado: 02-18-23
First off I was given this story for free for an honest review. I have loved the whole series of of books by Amy Bellows so I jumped up and down to volunteer to listen and review.
This is a sweet story, with a slow burn. The MC’s are just different enough from each other to give the story its push and pull. I liked the side characters (parent and grandparents). And I liked how tradition was important to both Evan and Dimitri. Pacing was good and the heat level medium.
Lance West was a new to me narrator and he did a wonderful job. I wasn’t listening to him read a story, I was listening to the characters interact as if I was there in the corner as the story played out.

Brad Widstrom’s human puppy left him. To keep his mind off his loneliness, he drills all his extra time into coaching his kickball team. After a game one night, he goes to a pet-play party. He doesn’t expect to meet someone who makes his blood sizzle. The thing is, the man he wants isn’t a puppy, he’s a cat. Brad doesn’t know the first thing about them. One thing is certain, though, and that’s how much he wants Harley.

Nice variation on pet play
Revisado: 03-17-21
This was a nice variation on puppy play. I’ve read a couple of books with pet play in them but never one where the characters were so immersed into it. Harley’s human personality is very much like a cats and so the transition from person to feline worked really well. There is a nice hurt/comfort to the story and Brad should be given either a gold star or an award on patience. Slow burn in the romance.
It’s the first time I’ve listened to Christopher Solon and he did a very nice job of character voices. He had Harley sounding snobbish at the start of the story, insecure in the middle and content at the end. All done with the right inflection. He also was really good voicing Quan’s hyper personality.

Historia
Collars & Cuffs' new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he'd find there. Except it's not what he expected at all. He certainly didn't anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him. Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on....The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply.

Wow great story
Revisado: 11-08-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Endings and Beginnings to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the book. But I loved the audio version
What was one of the most memorable moments of Endings and Beginnings?
When JJ goes to his moms. He is so scared, heartbroken, sad and afraid. He ends up telling her everything he had been doing, starting with thinking his dad was just a misled guy, that BDSM was what was wrong. How after he had worked at the club and got to know the people there he realized what a good group of people they were and how even he was exploring a dom/sub relationship. His mom didn't judge or turn him away she just asked if he was happy.
What does Joel Leslie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Joel did an absolutely amazing job with the voices! You always know who was talking just by the voice. The personality and mood of each character was reflected in his narration. It has given me a whole new perspective on his range as a narrator and will look for more books he has done.
Who was the most memorable character of Endings and Beginnings and why?
JJ I the most memorable character as the story follows him mostly. He starts out very reserved and shy and by the end he has learned to love and trust.
Any additional comments?
Although this story is about JJ and Darren, it also shows what other couples from previous stories are faring. Ben and Scott's wedding, Thomas and Peter's growth, and Eli and Jared's branching off to their own club. It keeps everything well rounded and interactive.

More than I could have hoped for
Revisado: 09-04-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Absolution to be better than the print version?
I wouldn't say it was better, I would say that it allowed me to hear the emotion better in each of the characters voices. The confusion Jonas felt from Mace. The heartbreak of Cole finally realizing that his sister was truly gone.
What other book might you compare Absolution to and why?
All of Sloane Kennedy's book carry the same level of emotion. If you are looking for a hurt/comfort story, than start with her Barretti series and follow the progression. She will have you crying and pulling for each connection she writes about!
What about Joel Leslie’s performance did you like?
Joel did a wonderful job with both the story, the characters voices and adding the underlying emotion that is jammed packed into the story
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The part where Mace could only sit and listen as Jonas sobbed his heart out. Not knowing exactly what brought it on, and knowing that Jonas although charged with such a terrible crime, all he wanted to do is go back over and comfort him.
Any additional comments?
If you haven't guessed I love this author and her stories. I was given this book for free for an honest review, but if that had not happened I would have bought it anyways. I look forward to more of her books being available in audiobook and adding to my collection.

A pleasant surprise
Revisado: 06-30-16
Where does Desert Heat & Native Tongue rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book falls in the top third of the audio books I've listened to. I will go back and listen to it again since I always pick up new perspectives the second and third time through.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Balki definitely became my favorite. You saw him completely adapted to both a new culture as well as perfect acceptance of bein gay.
What about Joel Leslie’s performance did you like?
His variations of the different characters voices was amazing. You never had to think about who was talking. You knew which character was talking and it flowed so easily. Even the secondary characters voices where well defined.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There was no extreme reaction, more of the story slowly drawing you in and holding your attention all the way through. You follow Wilkes as he decides that the man he has found is worth the chances of telling his secret. That what he has is more important than what he might lose. It's well handled and flows without overdoing the angst.
Any additional comments?
I passed up this book in print, just didn't peak my reading interest at the time. I'm glad I had the opportunity to listen to it, as it completely came alive for me with how well Joel Leslie did all of the voices. There are just some books that completely come alive for you when you listen to it.

My name is Troy Babilonia, but I'm best known as Babu, a renowned literary critic with my own online column. I'm followed by thousands! I'm a living god in the literary world. I have no filter, and for that my flock of humble followers are forever grateful. If it weren't for me, they wouldn't know what to read. I have zero tolerance for weak-minded attention seekers, nor do I have respect for the self-proclaimed geniuses of the indie world. Held my attention all the way through
Revisado: 06-18-16
Where does Black Balled rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book ranks in the top third of audiobooks I've listened to. It kept me engrossed wondering what was going to happen next and how it would be brought about.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Black Balled?
The elevator scene. You have no idea how it will play out. You keep waiting for L. Blackburn to open his mouth and all sorts of profanity to spew forth and it doesn't even come close. He opens his mouth alright, but ends up with something other than his foot in it.
Which scene was your favorite?
Again the elevator scene.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No I listened to it while driving and some at work.
Any additional comments?
The banter between Larson and Troy is amazing. I can just picture it as it's happening. The authors did a great job making these two seem real and believable.
The bonus chapters definitely add to the story.

Historia
Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

It was a roller coaster with both ups and downs
Revisado: 09-02-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Tell Me It's Real to be better than the print version?
for me listening to this story made it so much more real than if I had read it. The Narrator was able to use inflection and timber of voice to show the emotions trying to be conveyed in the story, and literally had me laughing with tears in my eyes!
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I think the narrator did a fabulous job of showing distinctly the personalities of the characters. I think the producers and sound crews messed up in the fact that where Paul's voice came across perfectly, all other characters were much too soft to hear. I spent a lot of time turning up the volume and replaying when anyone else was speaking. Since I have not had this issue with any other audio book I have listened to, I can only assume it was this production.
Michael Lesley caught the correct inflection and whininess of Paul, the calm steadfast of Vince and the dual personalities of Sandy.
Any additional comments?
As I said in the title, this was a story of roller coaster writing. The ups had you rolling on the floor laughing until you cried. the downs had your heart breaking for the sadness and loss experienced by both Sandy and Vince.
I'm not sure if I would have continued the story after the first chapter if I hadn't been obligated to review it, but I am glad I did. Once past that I completely became absorbed in the story.
