Jumping the Shark?
Revisado: 11-15-22
This series has been inspirational, but all good things must end.
I resent being "Wheel of Time'd". As a consumer I really don't appreciate a series dragging on, while the quality of the writing diminishes.
The last few books have had mistakes, editorial errors and a lack of focus. I want to finish this series, but if it goes on for another X# of books then I wont.

Just beautiful. This was a Glorious adventure. Consistent in writing, the performance made this whole journey into an old friend that I'm sorry to see go.

I really enjoy AT's Sci-Fi, but I just couldn't get into this. It's missing the "informality" and humor of his other work, leaving it feeling bloated and a bit lifeless.

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

An Anarchist's Handbook for Revolution
Revisado: 05-23-18
***Note to the Author: I see what you did there!
I cannot explain why I am loving this series:
*There are a some Plot contrivances
*A bit of the story is "Convenient"
*Occasionally I want to shout "WELL DUH!!!" at the book!
Regardless, the weave and craft of the writing, the thought and careful planning of detail and "texture" within the words, and the talent of Nick Podehl (normally not in my top 5) combine to bring this story to life in a wonderful way! I've rarely devoured book after book -- hopping through various series' and books for variety.
It is simply enjoyable! Funny, and thought provoking, especially NOW. The research that went into this work is amazing and carefully placed among the storylines.
Give this series a chance, open your mind, and suspend "disbelief"...it's worth every second and every word.

Historia
Pyrre Lakatur is not, to her mind, an assassin, not a murderer - she is a priestess. At least, she will be once she passes her final trial. The problem isn't the killing. The problem, rather, is love. For to complete her trial, Pyrre has ten days to kill the seven people enumerated in an ancient song, including "the one who made your mind and body sing with love / who will not come again." Pyrre isn't sure she's ever been in love.

Very, very Nice!
Revisado: 07-28-17
I completely enjoyed this offshoot! Even though the end (not a spoiler) of the series was a let-down, I really liked the characters and their stories. Seeing this book made me happy, and I downloaded immediately. The world-building for this part was done well, the characters were layered nicely. Struggles, conflicts and plots were placed nicely.
It did suffer the "Star Trek ending", like the series...but I was satisfied at the end, since that wasn't really the point - it was the journey we were on, not the destination.

Historia
In this second volume of the sprawling dark fantasy epic The Breaking World, gods and armies are on the move as all of Dezrel prepares for war…and nothing short of total subjugation will suffice. In the east, Karak invades Paradise with an army 20,000 strong. Meanwhile, Ashhur travels west along the Gods’ Road, gathering as many of his people as he can against the coming onslaught. In Mordeina, the Wardens raise a massive wall around their settlement with the assistance of spellcasters from the north. And in Dezerea, the Quellan elves move secretly to join the fray.

Almost returned...almost.
Revisado: 05-07-14
I didn't mind the first book. I did not like this one at all.
Plot was leaking all over the place and the characters degraded to paper dolls, easily torn. I had the whole thing playing as background noise by the end.
Sorry, won't be following the rest of this story.

Um...not great.
Revisado: 05-07-14
Interesting story idea and not a bad book. The plot has some "convenience" tricks (the right people or things in just the right places at exactly the right time). You never really get a sense of peril for anyone, nor do you care much about any of the characters. Not great, not bad.
The narration is a bit irritating at times...many of his female characters are grating.

Just a lot overwritten
Revisado: 02-04-14
I enjoyed the first book. Nexus was Naam's first novel, so there was an energy there and I liked it. This book just turned me off. Overwritten, seemed a bit rushed (on the editing) and just kind of beat you over the head. I couldn't finish it and will return this if I can.
The performance of Mikael Naramore is a bit over the top too. The screams...ohh, the screams.
