Beautiful narration to help you find self compassion and peace in difficult times

I purchased this book a few years ago. I listen to it almost every night at bedtime with the sleep timer. It has helped me through what has been some of the most difficult years of my life. There is joy and beauty in every day living even in the midst of loss. It has helped me to accept change and to find self-compassion and peace. Also, the narrator has a beautiful voice perfectly matched to the material.

incredibly in-depth world building paired with a cast of complex and interesting characters. extremely fun listen especially twoard the end. starts off a little slow but thats to be expected given the length and number of plot threads.

it would be a serviceably average book if it were writen by a 13 year old. Numbingly redundent sentance structure, very little vocabulary varriation, and 2 dimensional characters make it a slog to listen to. I will say the narrator does a decent job given his material, but the book(s) are just painful to get through. Every sentence feels redundant, over explanitory, or otherwise bad. For one credit it could be worth it just to recontextualizes books for you and renew your apprication for competent writing by way of comparison.

a brilliant book

every story is entertaining and thpught provoking and all of the characters feel very genuine. If you are a fan of Raphael Bob-waksberg's other work you will not be disappointed by this and if you're not it will be a new, great and suprising discovery.

an extremely fun and engaging subversion of the traditional young adult novel which still preserves the best core messages and ideas from the genre and presents them unobfuscated by the flash and glamor of a high stakes end battle betwen good and evil. The book also hits well on Kurt Vonegets idea about the lie of stories inhernt in there presentation of good and evil or of possitive and negative outcomes all the outcomes are just what happens not necessarily the good or bad ending. really enjoed the book its good as a standalone and great as an additional commentary on and critique of the coming of age story.
