There was barely any discussion of the historical context of these letters or the overall structure and flow! He dove right in verse by verse. Peter didn’t write verses he wrote letters!
I feel like so far I have been taught way more about the cultural leanings of RC Spraul than I have about the persecuted Christians in Asia Minor or of Paul himself. I wouldn’t recommend this book.

This answered the vast majority of my questions. There was very little fluff and lots of good information. I will listen several more times to soak it all in.

I’ve been listening to this book for nearly an hour and I have gotten less than a pamphlet worth of information. This is a topic that is near to my heart, but the language is too flowery and points are restated too many different ways.

It only teases at real education about space. It alludes to some great stories and science, but it doesn’t go in much of any depth. Like we can talk about pulsars without mentioning why they pulse or what they pulse. Talk about the myths about canals on Mars without talking about how those theories arose.

I understand a degree of shallowness if you’re trying to create a brief primer on the subject of the universe, but you need to at least explain what things are to a certain degree.

I need to stop starting Andy Weir books when I am busy

It always starts innocently enough. I’m only going to listen to an hour or so. Then I get sucked in and finish the book in a couple of days.

I enjoyed the well thought out plot. I really enjoy the plausible science that Andy Weir uses. There is also a lot of story and world building for such a short book.

I’d highly recommend this book for anyone working on a nonprofit board or working as an executive director under a board.
My first board was highly dysfunctional when I entered it, but I didn’t have any other experiences, so I didn’t know how to make it better. This book has helped me understand my roles better and has helped me hold other board members accountable to their responsibilities. I plan on buying several copies of this book for other board members!

I just listened through the last 9 1/2 hours of this book in one straight session. I could have stopped if I wanted to, but I guess I just didn’t want to stop badly enough.

The story is super weird, the story arc is a little hollow at the end, but the way things are described made the audiobook feel like a movie. 10/10

When I say that this book was life altering, it’s not hyperbole. The book does drag for a while as it sets up its premise, and overall it’s not a very exciting book.
Brave New World is a caricature of the western world that helped me understand how we as humans became enslaved to insanely busy lives not “in spite of” but “because of” industrialization. The book as been an important stepping stone to a freer, more essentialist lifestyle for myself.

This book is pretty repetitive. The message is good, but he seems to pose some weak examples of what “all in” looks like. An example of this is where he talks about how crazy it seemed for him and his church to start a coffee house: That’s not crazy, that’s something that tons of churches are doing. There are surprisingly few examples of those who have truly gone all in, like the millions of Christians who have died for their God.

More Than Battle Stories

I learned a lot about the victory at little big horn, but that wasn’t the best part of the book. Joseph Marshall’s book went beyond the battles and gave me new insights into pre-colonial Lakota society. I also really appreciate the decision the author made to bring the history up to present day rather than doing what many other authors do and end things shortly after Wounded Knee.
Having a Sičaŋǧu Lakota narrator is refreshing after listening to white narrators butcher Lakota words. This might not be a good book for those who want a light read that tells of heroism in bygone battles, but the Day the World Ended at Little Big Horn is a great primer for those wanting to understand how Lakota society has changed and adapted into what it is today.
