I agree with Marie’s comment at the end - I am just not ready for this book to end! I love the way Marie always manages to bring the character together into community, despite how different they all are.

Just as the Hebrews were slaves in Egypt, we have become slaves to technology. Our technological tools allow 24-hour productivity and connectivity, give us more control, and subtly enslave us to busyness itself. The Sabbath is about restraint, about intentionally not doing everything all the time just because we can. Setting aside a day of rest helps us reconnect with our Creator and find the peace of God that passes all understanding.

Life changing

I have now listened to this book twice,, with plans to read it at least once a year for a refresher. It gives me such a great perspective of what Sabbath really means and how to work towards a life with sabbath built in. The personal stories Matthew tells help emphasize so many of the points he makes that I remember them so clearly.

Inspiring & enlightening

Not everyone using alcohol to medicate, but at different times in life, we all medicate. This was an amazing journey to follow with Seth and I'm excited to read his next book! He had a way of making me think differently about forgiveness, even though I was already on a forgiveness journey. Thanks Seth for your vulnerability and insight!

Should be a movie!

This was an incredible book and honestly should be made into a movie! I fell in love with the characters, and the plot took twists I wasn't expecting. As always, Charles Martin did not disappoint. I am working on reading all of his books and haven't read one yet that I didn't absolutely love!
