Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Terrible Audio Quality
Revisado: 11-04-22
Gave up 3 minutes in. The worst sound quality I’ve ever heard on Audible. Sounds like the narrator is standing in a concrete lined room talking at her computer mic from 10 feet away.

Historia
High Noon, Kant, Bill Murray, the modern novel, van Gogh, and of course economics and the economy all come into play in an audiobook that can only be described as a monumental project and a life's work. The Bourgeois Virtues is nothing less than a dazzling reinterpretation of Western intellectual history, and a dead-serious reply to the critics of capitalism.

I mean the book is terrific, but the narration was incredible for a book like this.

Government is composed of wise public servants who innocently pursue the common good! In Real Dissent, Tom Woods demolishes some of the toughest critics of libertarianism in his trademark way.

Historia
No cloistered don, this tall, married Englishman was a freethinking intellectual, who practiced nudism and was devoted to a quirky brand of folk dancing. In 1937, while working as a biochemist at Cambridge University, he instantly fell in love with a visiting Chinese student, with whom he began a lifelong affair. He soon became fascinated with China, and his mistress swiftly persuaded the ever-enthusiastic Needham to travel to her home country, where he embarked on a series of extraordinary expeditions to the farthest frontiers of this ancient empire.

A Worthwhile Book About China
Revisado: 04-22-14
If you could sum up The Man Who Loved China in three words, what would they be?
A book about a book (though lengthy and multivolume, the Science and Civilisation of China remains a unitary work) about China through the lens of Joseph Needham. Eminently approachable for the western reader. Relatable as well, through the fusion of eros and logos in Needham.
What other book might you compare The Man Who Loved China to and why?
The Age of Wonder, Holmes.

Historia
Hamlet, which dates from 1600-1601, is the first in Shakespeare's great series of four tragedies. In writing this extraordinary play, Shakespeare effectively re-invented tragedy after an interval of roughly 2,000 years - you would have to go back to the Greek dramatists of fifth century Athens to find anything of comparable depth and maturity. This production features the voice of Anton Lesser as Hamlet along with a full cast.

Wonderful Production
Revisado: 04-21-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a must listen version. The production quality and acting is just phenomenal. I can't think of a better production in the attention to detail. Just a terrific use of sound effects and music first off; they don't take anything away from the production, which is hard to do in audio only format.
What about Anton Lesser and full cast ’s performance did you like?
Anton Lesser's Hamlet is just first rate. The way he communicates the character in such an understandable way. Rarely have I empathized with a character so well. Standing ovation.

Historia
Written in 1593, King Richard III is one of Shakespeare's earliest plays. This play differs from its predecessors, being amore structured piece, examining the development and motivations of a single character, Richard Duke of Gloucester, who will stop at nothing to gain control of the throne occupied by his brother Edward IV.

Historia
Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s most compelling Roman plays. The plot against Caesar and the infamous assassination scene make for unforgettable listening. Brutus, the true protagonist of the play, is mesmerizing in his psychological state of anguish, forced to choose between the bonds of friendship and his desire for patriotic justice.

Wonderful Adaptation
Revisado: 03-13-14
Where does Julius Caesar rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the Top 40 overall and in the Top 3 for dramatizations.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Low hanging fruit is Brutus for this question, but his followers were equally intriguing. Marc Antony terribly complex as well.
What does Andrew Buchan and Sean Barrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Amazing production, they and the rest if the cast really out a lot of effort in and it paid off.

This is the Hamlet 2 of novels.

Historia
People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.
