Historia
They called him Mickey Free. His kidnapping started the longest war in American history, and both sides - the Apaches and the white invaders - blamed him for it. A mixed-blood warrior who moved uneasily between the worlds of the Apaches and the American soldiers, he was never trusted by either but desperately needed by both. He was the only man Geronimo ever feared. He played a pivotal role in this long war for the desert Southwest from its beginning in 1861 until its end in 1890 with his pursuit of the renegade scout Apache Kid.

A Part of Our History Overlooked far too Often
Revisado: 12-20-23
I felt this book was very well written. it covered so much territory that I cannot believe in all of my school days was never taught. and why should it be because it exposed the treachery over and over and over again of the United States and it certainly is something that many people would want to bury. so unfortunate that we hold ourselves at such a high pedestal as defenders of other countries and yet our history has been one of genocide. I'm not one of these people that looks at us with Shane because just that has been our history it doesn't mean that we can't change. however stories of these are so important to understand our history and how we became who we are. we like to think that our history is wrapped up in our European ancestors yet there were great people that were here on these lands long before us. the author takes us back to the very beginning of this brutal war that lasted for decades. it's clear that there were no Innocents on either side and yet so much that still needs to be told. I definitely recommend anybody that they read this because it will enlighten you and very profound ways.

Historia
The country doctor had come to 221B Baker Street, the famous lodgings of Sherlock Holmes, with an eerie tale---the legend of the Hound of the Baskervilles, the devil-beast that haunted the lonely moors around the Baskervilles' ancestral home. The tale warned the descendants of that ancient family never to venture out on the moor "in those dark hours when the powers of evil are exalted."

There is a reason this is a classic
Revisado: 12-19-23
I must first start with mentioning the narrator before addressing the story as a whole. The narrator was unbelievable! His voice captured each character so much that as I listened not seemed more a conversation that I was listening to rather then someone reading. The narrator brought every character to life in the most vibrant manner which allowed the writing to shine. This was my first Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story and I cannot believe I waited so long. The mystery is beautifully illustrated in every possible way. He wasted no time on trifling distractions, but kept the story focused and flowing. I was disappointed it was not longer. What a thrill! Listen and enjoy!

Historia
Milton H. Erickson has been called the most influential hypnotherapist of our time. Part of his therapy was his use of teaching tales, which through shock, surprise, or confusion - with genius use of questions, puns, and playful humor - helped people to see their situations in a new way. In this audiobook Sidney Rosen has collected over 100 of the tales. Presented verbatim and accompanied by Dr. Rosen's commentary, they are grouped under such headings as Motivating Tales, Reframing, and Capturing the Innocent Eye.

Revisado: 11-09-22
It is impossible to fully capture Milton Erickson's genius, yet Sidney Rosen, a remarkable therapist himself, colds as close as what can be. As Rosen rights in the forward that if you read this book from the standpoint of trying to remember each of the stories then you would be reading it for the wrong reason. It is true that many of the teaching Tales contained in this book will be memorable and easily accessible, it is the nature of Erickson's stories that Inspire us to more fully utilize our own abilities and to be unimpaired by limits we place upon ourselves. You did not need to be a hypnotist to learn from the stories, you only need to be curious.

Well Done
Revisado: 08-20-22
Mr. Fernandez did a fantastic job in narrating this book. In fact other than Titus Well over, he has been my favorite narrator. he doesn't change his voice into a false female voice or come up with weird inflections and intonations it is reading it's just straightforward. I very much enjoy that! the story was well done by Michael Connelly as tends to be the case. I read this book a long time ago decided to listen to it here on Audible and it was very entertaining.

a very good story got a little heavy in the minutiae of details at times but still quite the yarn. definitely would recommend this. I was not a huge fan of the narrator. it's not that he was terrible he just wasn't right. but he was good enough.

Historia
An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Historia
On October 8, 1862, Union and Confederate forces clashed near Perryville, Kentucky, in what would be the largest battle ever fought on Kentucky soil. The climax of a campaign that began two months before in Northern Mississippi, Perryville came to be recognized as the high water mark of the western Confederacy. Some said the hard-fought battle, forever remembered by participants for its sheer savagery and for their commanders' confusion, was the worst battle of the war, losing the last chance to bring the Commonwealth into the Confederacy.

A Good Telling for a much Undertold Battle
Revisado: 08-07-21
The author did a terrific job of capturing the backdrop that led to this important battle. He created a sense of the progression of the battle, the carnage, the violence, the chaos, the havoc, the ineptitude of the generals and the courage of the soldiers. He captured the long lasting impact upon the town and how the Battle of Perryville affected the civil war in it's totality. It is unfortunate that the stories of that battle have not received the attention due. I am a Kentuckians and never once in school ever heard about this battle. Yet its far-reaching consequences cannot be understated. Certainly encourage anybody to read this book about a battle that needs to be told. The performance of the narrator was very very good. His reading accented stories quite nicely without overtaking them.

Historia
The Civil War battle waged on September 17, 1862, at Antietam Creek, Maryland, was one of the bloodiest in the nation's history: On this single day, the battle claimed nearly 23,000 casualties. In Landscape Turned Red, the renowned historian Stephen Sears draws on a remarkable cache of diaries, dispatches, and letters to recreate the vivid drama of Antietam as experienced not only by its leaders but also by its soldiers, both Union and Confederate.

An in-depth account of the Battle of Antietam
Revisado: 07-18-21
Steven Sears does an outstanding job of telling the many details of the horrible battle. I have been able to find very little surprisingly so on this battle and this is the first thorough account that I have read of it. Steven Sears how's the many different sides of the story from George McClellan, to Robert E Lee, to General Burnside, General Longstreet and the remarkable soldiers that were the ones doing the fighting. The many different stories are confusing and enlightening at the same time much as the battle itself was. He also captures the political background of what was happening leading up to this battle and following it.
