The contents of this mysterious box tells you the exact number of years you will live. From suburban doorsteps to desert tents, every person on every continent receives the same box. In an instant, the world is thrust into a collective frenzy. Where did these boxes come from? What do they mean? Is there truth to what they promise?

Great premise, wish a better author wrote it
Revisado: 07-15-23
The idea was so interesting, but the book was fairly trite, sappy, and even predictable with the “life lessons”. I feel like such a great book could have been written based on the idea, but this was not it.

Ripped-off plot lines & massive story holes
Revisado: 10-25-20
I kept rechecking the date of this novel, as I was sure I've read the same "plot twists" before. After finishing this book, I realized the author had borrowed a few of her twists from other "Abducted child returns" books. Very disappointing and made the story very easy to guess. Aside from that, there are just so many holes in the story. I don't want to spoil the plot, so I'll just say there are many things that could have very easily been checked to see which characters were lying. The author delves a bit into current technology and social media, but glosses over the implications of this girl's photo being all over the media? The whole book was disappointing for a variety of reasons. I recommend skipping it.

Idiotic “chick lit” waste of time
Revisado: 05-21-18
This was one of the worst books I’ve listened to in a long time. I wish someone had put a “chick lit” label on it so I would have avoided it. I have no idea why this book has so many positive reviews. The story line is both trite and unbelievable. The characters are stereotypical and predictable. Sure, there’s a “surprise” at the end, but it’s pretty easy to guess, and by the time I got there, I simply couldn’t care less. I actually went back a couple times to see if this was a YA book and that’s why it was so dumbed down, but the subject matter is too heavy to be for YA. What a complete waste of time and money! You may enjoy this book if you’ve recently had a lobotomy.

Very simple, generic predictable plot
Revisado: 10-10-17
If you’ve ever read a mystery, you’ve probably read this story. There’s nothing original, unique, or surprising about it. Waste of a credit, in my opinion.

This is the last "James Patterson" book I will waste my time on
Revisado: 08-01-17
James Patterson is one of those authors that I've read so much of that I will automatically buy any of his new releases. Ive been increasingly disappointed in the past few years, but this collection was by far the worst. I can only imagine his collaborators actually write the horrible drivel passing as "literature" and for some reason he is willing to put his name on it.
Plot lines are simple, unoriginal, and poorly developed. Stereotypical characters do the obvious yet unbelievable actions you'd expect from any junk mystery novel.
Don't waste your time and money, or else have a lobotomy before listening!

I lost IQ points listening
Revisado: 05-13-17
I understood this book was categorized as "chick lit", which I thought meant it would be a light, fun read. If this book is supposed to be representative of what average woman would like or can relate to, the world must think we are a gender of complete idiots. You might enjoy this book if you enjoy a ridiculous, self-deprecating, "stereotypical" stupid woman who cannot think for herself or have any meaningful convictions on her own. I don't usually write reviews, but this piece of drivel is just insulting!

The story is not worth enduring the horrible narration
Revisado: 11-08-15
This was some of the worst narration I've heard in a while. If you are considering this book, I'd urge you to listen to the sample audio and decide if you can tolerate hearing several hours of the character "Diva".
I would say that this author should stick to writing books, not narrating them, but that might imply that this story is decently written. I won't complain that it's implausible, because I think that's the point, but it is just incredibly stupid. Having listened to (and enjoyed) one of the author's previous works of fiction, I was not expecting any sort of depth or mystery, but rather a light, fun read (listen) to occupy road trip time, but this was just mind numbingly idiotic.

Revisado: 10-26-15
A nice light listen, but 100% predictable. Characters were fairly well developed, but just so cliche. I wouldn't say it was a waste of a credit, but I also wouldn't listen to it again.

Disappointing
Revisado: 07-23-15
I've enjoyed this author's previous works, but was very disappointed with this book. The story was generic and predictable, and about halfway through I realized that I didn't even care what happened to the characters. I made myself finish the book, but am just glad it's over.

Historia
Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater; she lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds; she likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps; she has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices, The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept.

Incredibly boring and lacking plot
Revisado: 05-21-15
I gave up on this book three times and forced myself to finish it, thus completely wasting my time! Nothing happens, and I don't mind a good "slice of life" book, but even there, this book and its characters held no interest to me at all. No story, flat two dimensional characters, and no "deeper message" or life lesson...I fail to see the point of this book ever having been published.
