An Amazing and Terrifying Story
Revisado: 09-14-18
I was intrigued when I read the synopsis. I was instantly caught up in the story. I found it as amazing as The Handmaid's Tale. It is not a light read because it makes you think and wonder if this future could be in store for us if we are not careful. I found myself sitting in the car listening, trying to find a place I could pause the heartache and anxiety I felt for the protagonist. Once I finished the book it was only a few days before I had to listen to it again.

Incredible Story of Incredible Women
Revisado: 07-09-18
I am an aviation fan, a WAC Veteran, and a lover of stories that show how women can persevere in times of great need. Although fiction, this story is based on the women who flew flimsy bi-planes at night with no radar, night vision, armor or radios to drop bombs on the German Army invading Russia during WWII. Their incredible bravery helped them to succeed. Aimie Runyan wrote a story so poignant as to have me cheering and laughing and in tears. Kathleen Gati performed spectacularly with a Russian accent that gave the narrative a genuine feel. I have no doubt that I will listen to this book again and again.

Historia
Human laws do not apply in the territory controlled by the Others - vampires, shape-shifters, and paranormal beings even more deadly. And this is a fact that humans should never, ever forget.... After her divorce, Vicki DeVine took over a rustic resort near Lake Silence - in a human town that is not human controlled. Towns like Vicki's have no distance from the Others, the dominant predators that rule most of the land and all of the water throughout the world. And when a place has no boundaries, you never really know what's out there watching you.

Unexpected Greatness
Revisado: 05-22-18
I thought I would be listening to a continuation to the original stories with Meg Corbyn and the Lakeside Courtyard, but my momentary disappointment when I realized that Lake Silence was in a different setting with new characters turned to pure joy. I loved the book, the setting, the characters, their interactions with the terra indigene and the Elders.
I love that the characters have flaws. They are "human" and show their feelings, fears and joys, disappointments and sorrows. I hope that Anne Bishop continues with this series for a long time.

I love a mystery that is about a different era, a different country, a different culture. Very entertaining. The narrator did an amazing job bringing the book to life.

Amazing Story from an Author Who Left Us Too Soon
Revisado: 11-13-17
I only discovered the incredible work of Octavia Butler a few years ago. She had already passed when I read Fledgling for the first time. I mourned her loss and reveled in my finding her works. Fledgling is a story of coming of age, of trust. It's a love story and a tale of horrible prejudice and loss and for standing up and fighting for what is right. I listened to it again a few months ago and found the message to be incredibly timely in light of the current issues plaguing our society. -- Oh, and it's a vampire story like nothing you have ever read before.

Revisado: 05-03-16
This a great intro to Miles and his wild escapades. He is such an incredible character. I just can't stop with one book. I started with the prequel Falling Free and I will work my way to the new book. And I will enjoy every minute. It's like meeting an old friend or eating comfort food.

Great story but lousy reader
Revisado: 04-10-15
I love this novel. I read it when I was in high school. I was thrilled to find it on Audible. Unfortunately I am not a fan of Ralph Cosham, the reader. I get so turned off by the stilted accent of the reader that I give up a couple of hours in.
