Amazing characters and an intriguing magical mystery!

Need to listen more than once... a bit confused.

I received this title free for an honest review.
First of all, I like the premise, and think its a good story, but I was so confused through most of it. While there aren't a ton of characters, only the main character, his love interest, and the homeroom of 12, the bad guy, as well as a few very minor side characters, it felt like a lot to keep track of. I did appreciate that the author did a sort of file read whenever a character did something to push the story forward. It helped me keep track.
I think I was confused because there were flashbacks, and while those in themselves aren't overly confusing, the fact that a dead character is active in another's mind, as well as being a character listed in the blurbs of future books, I keep thinking that he isn't really dead. I finished the book today, and I'm still not sure.
I'll continue with the series just to find out the fate of that one character, but if I wasn't so invested there I'm not sure I would continue.
One big plus, Kirt Graves does an amazing job, no matter what story he tells.

I loved this book so much.
The performance was amazing, this narrator did a fantastic job. I hope to hear more of his work in the future.
The story line had a lot of recognizable tropes but they were done in a new way that surprised me. I remember my jaw literally dropping several times, which doesn't happen often. I'm the kind of person who can often figure out the "whodonit" early on, but his one kept me guessing all the way through.
I haven't heard if there will ever be more books in this world, but I hope that some day we see more of these characters. More adventures fighting demons, and ***SPOILER*** I hope to see Jude's brother truly understand and believe after a personal experience with the supernatural.

Literal Perfection!

Chloe has done an amazing job sucking me in as a reader/listener. She created characters that I either love, or love to hate.
And Greg, there isn't much I can say except WOW! There are many alien species and Greg managed to give life to each one in a unique way that ensured this will be a frequent re-listen series for me.
And in the best news- the author has just announced the series is going to be TEN books! I'm ready to click pre-order on each and every Kindle and Audible that is announced.

So, I'll admit I was scared to listen to this because it was not only a new author for me, but it was my first tentacle or alien story. I'm so glad I got over that fear.
The story itself is hilarious. It has moments of literally laughing out loud, and I can't count count how many times my jaw literally dropped.
River is hilarious and sweet and kind and I wish I knew him in real life. Kai is a bit of a grump but the kind of grump where you just wanna cuddle them and love them until they melt.
As always, Greg does amazing work. Each character gets its own personality and voice and its easy to follow the story. He puts everything he has into each scene and character and the final product is perfection.

Pretty good, until the last hour or so

The ending!! I'm so mad. I hope there is a sequel coming, because otherwise, this may be the worst ending I've read in a long time.
As for the actual story- I like it, but I think if there is a sequel I would like to find out what really happened, because I don't agree with the majority on their decision regarding the verdict. I really think something else happened, and as a reader I would like to see that part of the story.
