Wonderful Read
Revisado: 06-09-11
I am a huge fans of Bryce Courtenay's books and this book followed by Tandia is no exception. (I did not make begin with this series but began with the Australia series.) Humphrey Bower is an exceptionally talented narrator and after listening to Mr. Bower there are few others who are as talented on audible. In fact, I always have to remind myself when listening to another book that I should not compare the narrator to Bower's narrative abilities. I wish he was used more often to narrate books on this site. He is multi-faceted and the characters are brought to life with his voice.

Historia
Tragedy has struck His Majesty's Aerial Corps, whose magnificent fleet of fighting dragons and their human captains valiantly defend England's shores against the encroaching armies of Napoleon Bonaparte. An epidemic of unknown origin and no known cure is decimating the noble dragons' ranks, forcing the hopelessly stricken into quarantine. Now, only Temeraire and a pack of newly recruited dragons remain uninfected; they stand as the only means of an airborne defense against France's ever-bolder sorties.

Historia
A dazzling blend of military history, high-flying fantasy, and edge-of-your-seat adventure, Naomi Novik’s Temeraire novels, set in an alternate Napoleonic era in which intelligent dragons have been harnessed as weapons of war, are more than just perennial bestsellers—they are a worldwide phenomenon. Now, in Tongues of Serpents, Naomi Novik is back, along with the dragon Temeraire and his rider and friend, Capt. Will Laurence.

It is a grim time for the dragon Temeraire. On the heels of his mission to Africa, seeking the cure for a deadly contagion, he has been removed from military service - and his captain, Will Laurence, has been condemned to death for treason. For Britain, conditions are grimmer still: Napoleon's resurgent forces have breached the Channel and successfully invaded English soil.

Where was the editor?
Revisado: 05-02-11
I have loved the Clan of the Cave Bear series and looked forward to this book. I can only echo what the other reviewers are stating as negative about the book and ask another question: Where was the editor for this book? Surely, Crown Publishers employs editors? The backstory and repitition was overwhelming. Since Ms. Auel is a bestselling published author it seems Crown has let everything slide. Even published authors need editors especially after 31 years. Too bad because the series was a remarkable one.

When it comes to the holidays, no story brings us back to the true spirit of giving like O. Henry’s classic "The Gift of the Magi". So this year we’ve asked some of your favorite Audible narrators—Audie Award winners Katherine Kellgren, Oliver Wyman, and Jonathan Davis—to bring to life this timeless tale, plus two more of O. Henry’s gems: "The Cop and the Anthem" and "The Last Leaf", in this holiday collection.

The Thousand Autoumns of Jacob de Zoet
Revisado: 07-18-10
This book is set in old Japan when the Dutch were trading. I enjoyed it and will warn the reader that it moves a bit slower than some audiobooks that I have read.
I would probably have given it 5 stars but something is wrong in the third part and it repeats.
I also don't know if it is the fault of the author or if the audio book has skipped some chapters because it seems to have all the loose ends pull together in one chapter which I found to be quite sudden. Otherwise, I did enjoy the book, except for these problems.
