Patterson’s books are always fast and engaging. I like the book but found it very confusing between two story lines and many players.

I hate when protagonist is strong one minute demanding to be a part of an official murder investigation…… NOT! Then turning into a fool who can’t cut off a conversation or control a bunch of busy bodies ! Lucy is totally unlikeable!

I am enjoying the series but in this book Maddie drive me crazy . She bossed everyone around even her superiors including the sheriff. My pet peeves are those people who always think they are right regardless of the facts before them!

Bad overall

I listen to first few chapters before I found the book so absurd ! First was woman’s voice which sounded like she was trying to come on to all the men. Secondly , the whole concept was ludicrous. Do not believe I’ve ever seen the Mennonite church go on a mass media campaign .

Worst mom ever

Unfortunately I had already bought the book so after the last awful book, I listened again! I know it’s fiction but really….. in two days…investigate a murder, get shot, get called to another murder where a friend is involved, giant snow storm , wreak a car and poop herself, solve a domestic battery situation , deliver a baby, do an undercover sting, then go all Clint Eastwood and ride off to save the day, another near death moment and Wonder women comes out saying…”it’s ok I’m fine.”…. Then after all this WAIT…. Out of all the professionals
Here I am the one to get the bad guy to talk.

This is the kicker ….. all the while working 20 per day leaving her two children home to fend and eat cold pizza .

So insisting to be included in a police and FBI sting ( Riiiiiiight)….. she leaves her kids night and day, during a snow storm when her step daughter has just lost her mom to death!!!!

I agree with Mattie on one point …. She never should have become a mother . Just go ahead with your horny self …. Just be responsible with your birth control !

BTW…. Two reviews and I still have not seen one on this site !!!!!!

I really dislike her

I had to skip to the end of book to write this! How can one person be so self absorbed as this protagonist. She’s nosey, intrusive, rude, a thief and acts if she is above the law. Then she thinks she has the virtue to act has the heroine. Typical liberal America….. save the dogs and cats but to hell with her own integrity. Regret the time I lost reading part of this book.

Too wordy

Some of the scenes go on and on with ridiculous actions drawing them out. Example is Dillion and Lacey on front porch after she was hexed ! Instead of getting out of there Dillion laid Lacey on porch , stroked her face and continually asked if she was OK! Then he picked her up and then laid her back down ……. Then it started all over again . Rubbing on Lacey …… are you ok, are you ok! The Lacey told then entire story again while they just hung out on this witches porch ! Whew!!! I got tired of just writing this review!
Just spit it out!

No excitement

As a mother I know I would not calmly go about searching my house or doing my job if my baby was abducted. The narrators resd as if they are reading poetry.... soft whispery voices . No emotion!
Storyline good but totally unbelievable .

New Virgin River Book

I have read or listen to every book in this series; plus watched the Netflix version. I was disappointed in this book and I used my only credit to purchase. Same story line.. I could have taken a similar story but plo
t did not involve anyone else..... of the colorful characters. Just Jack and Mel. And to be ho est I get tired of Mel’s bossy ways.
