Historia
A perfect blend of medical drama and spiritual insight, Gray Matter is a fascinating account of Dr. David Levy's decision to begin asking his patients if he could pray for them before surgery. Some are thrilled. Some are skeptical. Some are hostile, and some are quite literally transformed by the request.

Historia
What is meant by the "Great Tribulation?" Will the church endure the tribulation? Is the rapture a tenable belief? H.A. Ironside contrasts the judgment of God with salvation to determine the basis for the events of the future. He introduces biblical prophecy, connects to historical events, and offers an exhaustive biblical survey of the Great Tribulation. Most importantly, Ironside explains that the Great Tribulation differs from God's wrath or fury. Ultimately God’s judgment and wrath - and the events of the tribulation - are overcome by salvation and love.

Hard to get past the reader's style
Revisado: 12-20-24
The the narrator reads in a stilted and sing-song way that almost comes across as condescending to someone who is simple of mind.
I found it so distracting I couldn't finish the book. If it had a better reader I might be able to evaluate the content.

The Innocents Abroad is a keenly observant, politically incorrect and often hilarious narration of the author’s cruise to the Holy Land aboard a retired Civil War ship. First published in 1869 and the bestselling of Twain’s works in his lifetime, The Innocents Abroad will delight listeners with the celebrated author’s musings on historic landmarks, cultural differences and silly travelling companions.

Has got to be the best narrated audiobook, yet!
Revisado: 09-24-24
The book and story are of a quality one is unlikely to ever find again. Twain is a master, but where to find a voice equal to such a task? Here's the man! Effortlessly natural, relaxed, perfect pacing, timing and intonation ...I could go on far too long.
This narrator is unparalleled, the perfect reader for this book! I cannot find the tiniest quibble at any point. I should only hope to be as good of a voice actor as he.
His natural HUMAN voice sets the bar so high his should be THE standard, the example to learn from. His voice especially pulls back the curtain and reveals AI voices as the cheap, tawdry imitations they are.
The pleasure of listening to him read is hard to describe. He's an absolute natural, he IS the "voice" of Mark Twain, and I can't imagine anyone better. Twain would be proud.
Any previous reviews of mine giving a reader 5 ⭐ should be changed to 4⭐ because this man is a true 5⭐, the G.O.A.T. of voice actors.

George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Disturbingly relevant
Revisado: 09-05-24
Whether or not you like the story, this is a must-read has a cautionary tale. If you haven't heard it before, or in a while, you should. Its relevance is almost frightening. But we need to understand there are those more interested in power and control than our right to live in peace and safety without political manipulation.
The speaker was excellent, spoke fluently, and confidently, was pleasing to hear but unobtrusive, and made the story come alive.
I'm glad this is unabridged, as well, as nothing should be abridged out. Get it and start listening.

Historia
As Christians, we often ask what the gospel is, when we should be asking why it is. Matthew W. Bates has previously demonstrated that the “good news” of the gospel is that Jesus is King. But in his latest book, he explores God’s intentions: why has God issued this royal proclamation? And what role can it play in our everyday lives? As Bates observes, we find the answer in a simple but challenging realization: “I am a horrible king of my own life."

This is it. I knew something was incomplete, no matter how well intentioned the messages I've heard all my life. It finally makes complete sense.
I can't describe my feelings that someone has finally taken the time to thoughtfully look at the Bible in it's complete context and bring us back to the foundation. So many well intended pastors and so many books vying for their attention and this one is so important. How can I get them to read this? Read it. Especially the last chapter.

In Revelation 17, the Apostle John describes in great detail the characteristics of a false church that will be the partner of the Antichrist. Was he describing the Roman Catholic Church? To answer that question, Dave Hunt spent years gathering research and indisputable historical documentation (primarily Catholic sources) providing information not generally available. Are you missing half the story about the last days? Virtually all attention these days is focused on the coming Antichrist—but he is only half the story. Many are amazed to discover in Revelation 17 that there is also another ...

How have I been kept in the dark about this, too?
Revisado: 03-22-24
1. I continue to be astonished at the grimy historical details of the RCC I've never known. There are those who have no love for this "church" and it amazes me they haven't read this and sounded it abroad.
2. I would like the reader to be a little less "intense" / strong, and let me experience my own outrage.

In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

Historia
Far from being an engaging fable, the account of Job in the Bible is one of the most historically and scientifically accurate records of the ancient world. Perhaps the oldest book in the Bible, the Book of Job touches on many subjects of science and history. This commentary on the controversial Book of Job is very different from most of the seminary and church teachings so prevalent today, for it attests to the historicity of a man named Job who understood at the end of his life that God cannot be "figured out", but He can most certainly be trusted.

If you ever really wanted to understand Job well
Revisado: 07-14-23
An audiobook is frequently made or broken by a good narrator and this was a very good narrator. I am grateful because I've had excellent books with narrators who left too much to be desired, which has ruined then for me.
Excellent subject matter, well researched, definitely some very deep diving. I wish my pastor had this book and has read it.
Those inclined to dismiss Job would gain much from this book because most objections are based on misunderstandings and poor scholarship, and this book eliminates nearly all I can think of.

What does God want? Sounds like a simple question, but if you give it a bit of thought, it’s really not. For starters, you have to know who’s asking the question. People will ask it for a lot of different reasons. Best-selling author Dr. Michael S. Heiser shows listeners that the answer is pretty simple. That might surprise you. There’s actually a long, remarkable story behind the answer - one that isn’t well known by most people interested in the question.
