Historia
Generations of Montrose women—Augusta, Victoria, Willow—have lived together in their quaint two-story bungalow in California for years. They keep to themselves, never venture far from home, and their collection of tinctures and spells is an unspoken bond between them. But when seventeen-year-old Nickie Montrose brings home a boy for the first time, their quiet lives are thrown into disarray. For the other women have been withholding a secret from Nickie that will end her relationship before it’s even begun: the decades-old family curse that any person they fall in love with dies.

Confusing at first but…
Revisado: 01-16-24
Great story line.
So wholesome.
I appreciate the family of women and their mental turmoil—and the way they still found ways to connect.

Historia
Born on a plantation in Charles City, Virginia, Pheby Delores Brown has lived a relatively sheltered life. Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world. She’d been promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the idyllic life she imagined with her true love, Essex Henry, Pheby is forced to leave the only home she has ever known. She unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the bowels of slavery at the infamous Devil’s Half Acre.

Captivating Story
Revisado: 01-10-21
This story’s reality truly captivated me. The evolution of the plot really helped me to see the author’s intriguing strategy. I listed but it was still. “page-turning” in that I was always looking forward to the chance to listen.

Historia
Why do some products get more word of mouth than others? Why does some online content go viral? Word of mouth makes products, ideas, and behaviors catch on. It's more influential than advertising and far more effective. Can you create word of mouth for your product or idea? According to Berger, you can. Whether you operate a neighborhood restaurant, a corporation with hundreds of employees, or are running for a local office for the first time, the steps that can help your product or idea become viral are the same.

Perspective Matters
Revisado: 04-11-20
The best part of the novel was that it was first person, and yet told from multiple perspectives. The part that pulled me in the most was seeing ok how each person could view the same situation. And being a teacher of youth, I was truly inspired by the bold assertiveness Annie showed inspire of her teenage angst. I believe this book will soon be added to my read aloud library in my classroom.
